Watch the first ten minutes of this video if you want to see the kind of assholes pushing their personal, particular, and private beliefs on the rest of America. People like this make me want to smash myself in the head fifty times with a dull axe.

by the gods, the rustling is near deafening in this thread

Why can't anyone accept we don't know what's out there or what's after death...

Into the trash it goes...

Penn and Teller can be funny, but sometimes it's just not. The problem is that they always pick terrible people to represent the other side. Also, when they get halfway decent people, they cut off the other person's quote so it's not an actual representation of what was said. Still though they can be really funny. Also, personal belief, creationism not true and definitely should not be in public schools as separation of church and state. Rant over

Edited by Sgt Commando: 1/23/2014 6:26:13 AMHoly shit. You know you should be more educated on the subject when you confuse the origins of life and evolution, a theory in a casual context and a scientific theory, and when you confuse non-evidence supported ideas with science.
-
So you think that I should not be able to push my beliefs on others? Aren't you pushing that belief on me if I disagree with you?

Oh Georgia. I wouldn't waste my time with the Bible Belt.
-
Wow...just...wow.
-
Didn't even watch. Don't care about arguing about stupid shit like Science vs Religion.
-
I watched the whole thing. At about 21st minute they say that the agenda of creationists is to destroy modern science.

Edited by BannedLemön: 1/10/2014 10:17:27 PM>Thinks the bible is an accurate historical book >Says evolution hasn't and can't be proven What the fuck am I watching?
-
How many Christians are actually creationists? I don't think the Bible ever mentions anything about the Earth's real age.
-
I...I can't watch this thing... It's too much. It hurts.
-
They are like that for entertainment. If you watch any of Penn's interviews he is very calm and refrains from raising his voice to retards like Piers Morgan.
-
Had a good laugh. Creatnism is science that can be proven...bwahaha. proof 0.
-
Still waiting on that scientific evidence of creationism that they keep talking about. We know when they say they want their children to "decide for themselves" they really mean they want their kids to believe what they believe by giving it scientific credibility.

Edited by THUNDERCHILD: 1/10/2014 6:45:41 PMThe only reason religion exists is to help guide ancient ignorant people who lived in a "small" world to live good productive lives and to build a sense of community. The purpose of the Bible, and before people could read, local churches and clergymen, was to contain in one readily available source many small stories and anecdotes that a simple person could read (or have read to them) and think to themselves "how is this situation similar to mine? And how can I learn from that example to enrich my life and the lives around me" (also, it's not like they had t.v., and that old book certainly has some drama). It's easy to see how people in a simpler time would gravitate to it, if everyone knows the story or if a community is hearing the stories be told as a group, then those ancient entertainment starved people would all have something to talk about besides goat pellets and rocks. I don't think the people behind the creation of the bible had any idea so many people would be so simple and lazy that they would take it word for word, and in doing so, destroy it's true intended purpose. All religion should have been left in the 18th century. Faith today exists for recreation.
There's no right or wrong in that video. Penn and Teller are doing the same thing everyone in the video is doing, saying "I'm right, you're wrong, agree with me" without any in between. I didn't make it past 7 minutes. Penn and Teller are asshats, and the people interviewed are as well asshats, it's like there was an asshat convention and someone just happened to show up with a video camera and managed to video tape the whole thing.
QFT. It's gotten to the point in life where I think everything (no matter what it is) is just bullshit. So many people profess what they believe to be true with such an arrogant certainty that it's kind of disturbing to me. People need to learn how to shut the -blam!- up and let opinions be just that, opinions. Everyone has their own beliefs, they are yours and yours alone, so stop trying to make your beliefs theirs (I'm using "your" and "their" in a general sense of course not you specifically). /rant
I actually like P & T, but when it comes to things like this, they're just as -blam!-ing bad as what they're ranting about so they can foad for all I care.
