The fact that you can walk into almost any exotic pet shop or reptile expo and pick up a venomous snake like a cobra or eastern brown without a licence, you know something that will kill you if you get bitten. Seriously guys wtf?

Pet stores in general suck. As mentioned already, the condition those animals are left in are pretty shit anyway. Even exotic animals can be found through good, reputable breeders and those breeders would screen the people who want to purchase those animals to make sure they are willing and capable of taking care of an animal with specials needs. I don't think licensure to own a particular animal is the right way to go. Perhaps a registration that documents who owns what so you know your ass will be on the line if something happens and the animal gets out...I dunno I just have a cat and some hermit crabs.
