Hey, so I (arrogantly) hope Tom Doyle or at least one of the art designers in charge of the hunter's knife sees this, so our opinions can be heard, so comment below! As a knife enthusiast I have a great interest in this and in the opinions of others.
Imo, two elements of the knife definitely need some major redesigning. The gut hook, while a nice nod to the whole "hunter" vibe they are going for, needs to go, it has no place on a combat knife and any of the users with experience using/making knives agree. The hole in the blade would most likely throw the balance of the knife off, I think, its shown in different positions on differently sized versions of the knife so its hard to say with 100% certitude, but imo it has gotta go.
So those two changes are essential, these are optional but I think would stylize the blade enough from the ordinary to give you all the futuristic feel you're going for without compromising realism. The blade shape is great considering it is derived from some of Buck's more popular hunting designs and provides that nod to hunters, so keep the shape the same, but offset the angle of the blade in relation to the handle by -15-25 degrees (like the Ares by Spartan Blades) and you'd have a real winner for a combat knife. I'd love to see that. The handle is perfect as long as you get the size ratio down. If you want a bit more on it though a forward facing spike-like feature on the index-finger ring (generally used for pressure point applications and glass breaking) would look good. Love the underhand hold too. These are just my opinions tho. If you guys want some really great stylized yet functional combat knives to look at, check out Laci Szabo's designs at www.szaboinc.com. He's got some good stuff including a killer scythe.
Knife enthusiasts! What do you think? Agree/Disagree? What would you change.

Agreed to a point. The hook would get stuck in the the enemy if you stabbed too far lol
