1st: I know the people that go on a video game forum are not usually Greeks, so I know this will get the "lel frat-star d-bag go buy some more friends kek" responses. But, that aside, if any of you want to actually know how the Greeks live go ahead, ask away.
(just to get this out of the way, yes we all get hazed, no there is NO gay stuff like in movies)
Also, pic related, that is my house. (Yes we were being "stereotypical" in the picture to rustle jimmies)
So far ITT mis-informed GDIs are hating on greek life with no real basis...

What was the hazing?

I feel like I should get out of the Off-Topic and migrate to the Community forum. At least in there, people act maturely and not their shoe size. My cousin joined Phi Theta Kappa when she was in community college (Which I am a part of now), but when she transferred over to university, she joined Alpha Phi Omega, but wanted to join Delta Delta Delta. As for our friend, who went to CSUEB, he joined Epsilon Theta Psi. As for me, I'm transferring to the UC in this town after next semester, and I have a few guy friends that I met in this college that are part of Kappa Sigma. I'm thinking of joining Kappa Sigma as soon as I get admitted.

Edited by Primordial 97: 12/8/2013 9:32:32 AMWhich frat did you rush? Did you get hazed? My college had a hazing problem and the administration is trying to get rid of it. But it's not a frat without hazing. Never mind. I see you're kappa sig. Had to zoom into the photo. I know a few kappa sigs. Good people.

Edited by WombRaider: 12/4/2013 2:35:24 PMCongratulations. ACC fraternity member here. Pledging is the best thing you never want to do again. ITT GDI's who didn't get bids...
-
IDK why people tend to get rustled by the idea. I myself would never dream of joining a frat since I'm an independent person, and I am on a pre-med track, through small-ish schools. But my hyper intelligent and chill cousin joined one and seemed to like it well enough.
-
Good for you. I wouldn't get involved with a frat, but I respect your decision.
-
Interesting.
-
calling yourself Greek is pathetic please don't embarrass the Greek people even further
-
What do you mean by "no gay stuff"? Do men usually sleep with each other to get into these things?
-
Quite a pitiful concept.
-
My roommate in my sophomore year pledged. They made him drink so much he came back and pissed in the microwave. Did you piss in anything interesting?

Edited by Display: 12/5/2013 3:03:08 PMThe stupidity is strong with those who think "greek" means college partying and drinking because they name their club after a letter of the greek alphabet. And also, the obligatory "lolfrats". Was a member of one for two years before moving on, finding better friends and joining an actual society that does not revolve around behaving like complete tools. Probably one of the better choices I ever made, considering what my life's like now.

What does this have to do with greeks?
-
What SEC university?
-
Goes to college to learn, but joins fraternity. Your paying for friends and guaranteed lower grades, unless its the academic type

Edited by HurtfulTurkey: 12/4/2013 4:16:56 PM>paying for friends >paying to get hazed and treated like shit, then turn around and do it to younger kids >pretending a few hours of community service each semester makes up for living a retarded lifestyle >being a pledge and already using the term GDI ISHYGDDT
There's a reason the military doesn't haze anymore. It's not an effective way to build brotherhood and comeraderie, and in the greek life it's even less effective because you've got largely-uneducated drunk 20 year olds with zero leadership or useful work experience asserting a false authority just because of seniority in a club. If you enjoy it, more power to you. But don't pretend you're somehow better than anyone else on campus because you bro it up for a few hundred bucks a year. Experience: got a bid for Theta Tau as a freshman.
Best "friends" money can buy.

OP confirmed for a better b.net.

I got a bid to join a fraternity my freshman year, but I ended up turning it down. I really don't have anything against Greeks, but Greek Life at my college seems to have a lot of drama attached to it. To me, there seems to be a lot of childish games that makes me feel like I'm in high school again. That could just be my school though. Also, I would never have enough free time with my major, and I'd probably end up failing out anyway. That was the biggest reason I turned it down. :/
-
Nice. I'm a frat brother myself. Theta Chi for life. Don't listen to what anyone says here. Frats are fun as hell. Easily one of the best decisions I made in college was to join.
-
dude, that picture is a cartoon. na / 10
-
Wow..total TFM there OP... Anyway kidding aside, I was thinking about pledging, but I decided against it. Greek life at my school doesn't compare to it in the South, but it is still fairly large.

Edited by U920628: 12/5/2013 4:19:19 AMI went a school with four Houses that everyone gets sorted into, kinda like Hogwarts.

do you think she is attractive? would you bang her if she had an STD? what nationality do you think she is? do you also agree tupac is overrated? who is your favourite floodian? who is your least favourite floodian?
-
Well I go to a University of California and am quite exposed to the "Greek" life, and I still find it to be as stupid as I did before hand. Not saying there aren't long term benefits, but during school, ugh please.
