So this year it was a fairly exciting time to be a gamer, with two new systems coming out and what not and some decent games for them. And don't get me wrong, the launch of both the PS4 and Xbox One were awesome, but there is so much more to be excited for next year. The next generation has literally just started and we have at the very least a good 5 years with these new systems.
So next year is when I believe we will start seeing truly next-gen stuff with the Xbox One and PS4. I think by the end of 2014 the PS4/Xbox One will be in the households of millions of people and will already be more mainstream that the 360/PS3. That alone is something to be excited for, it means more people to play with. We will also see major UI improvements/additions and bug fixes (of course) throughout next year, and we will also see performance increases (mostly through further optimization).
We will also start seeing custom editions of the Xbox One and PS4, as well as some likely upgrades to their storage. We will also see more compatibility with the two systems, such as compatible headsets and accessories from 3rd parties (like the Turtle Beach XO Four/Seven). We might even see price dropped consoles and hell maybe even slim versions of consoles.
Both systems have had a rough, but still good, start on their journey through the next decade, but we still have so much to encounter.
And lastly, don't forget about the games! So many awesome games coming out next year, its gonna be amazing.

Games I'm excited for include: Titanfall Watch Dogs Destiny Quantum Break (the concept sounds interesting IMO) Fable Legends (I'd be very happy if they made it more like the original Fable) Project Spark The next Assassin's Creed (Pls be Feudal Japan) The next CoD (I like the Treyarch CoD's far more than IW ones after MW2)
