Any thoughts? This seems pretty cool and useful, yeah it'll be expensive but it will be worth it in the long run.

Edited by DEZARATH: 12/7/2013 2:23:25 PMWhy pull funding from giant mobile robot defense units? The stupidity man those giant robots are not going to build themselves...oh wait never mind they will eventually.

Why bother with the moon? The same gains could be achieved using orbital arrays with far less money and the efficiency would be way better.
-
Harvesting He3 would be more useful.

100% not worth. Idk if you know this but solar panels are inefficient as -blam!- right now. wait till tech is better then you can. Also what are they going to power on the moon? Rocks? Anyways I thought it was obvious that if we ever made a moon base we would use solar power.
-
Make it happen Japan.
-
How do we get the electricity from the moon to the Earth, I don't think we have extension cords long enough...

Is this article satire?

Let's make a giant lunar power plant on the sun.
-
Sounds like a good idea but I and they need more information
-
So they want to convert microwaves into electrical energy. They have a lot of hurdles to jump over to make this effective.
-
Sure it's a great way to get a lot of energy, but there's 1 core flaw in this idea: You'll have to make many trips to the moon in order to gather together the extracted energy to send back to Earth, which is unnecessary. Just throw a bunch of solar panels into deserts around the world.
-
The effort it would take would be better spent doing other things.
-
Whilst that sounds pretty incredible, if they actually pull it off I will eat my hat. I don't have a hat, but I will purchase and eat one if they can do that by 2035.
-
I really don't see how they can efficiently transmit the energy to earth using microwaves...most of them will just reflect off of our atmosphere.
-
They should send the current down a giant fishing line that stretches from the moon to earth.

Edited by Kamots: 12/1/2013 5:12:20 AM
The company proposes to start building the Luna Ring in 2035.
Not gonna happen. Still, they should go for it, eventually. Even if they can't quite make it to such a fantastical result, hopefully some good technology will come out of it.

Edited by Ms Blue Phacelia: 12/1/2013 5:10:23 AMI feel that the company that gets behind this would go bankrupt In a heartbeat. Just, so many problems with this idea.
