Fire Emblem: Awakening is the only game you'll ever need.

Pokemon X or Y Fire Emblem: Awakening Zelda: A Link Between Worlds Shin Megami Tensei IV You also have a plethora of old DS titles to choose from, which are cheaper and just as good. The Castlevania DS games are decent, as are the Final Fantasy re-releases, and Chrono Trigger. Enjoy! Best console release this gen in my humble opinion.

You'll get a free game if you register a 3ds with one of the games on that list next week(and if you're from the eu)

All the first party games are great ideas, you can't miss. Standing out is Pokemon, Animal Crossing, Fire Emblem, and Link Between Worlds(truly fantastic by the way). Two third party games I recommend: BIT.TRIP.SAGA: It's six games in one, all rhythm based. Great game, though later stages of all the games can be quite difficult. Monster Hunter Tri Ultimate: If you want a game that's tons of fun, a good challenge, and will keep you busy for hundreds of hours, here you go! This one's a good singleplayer game, but it really shines in multiplayer. I recommend it more if you have friends with it, or if you have a Wii U since that version has an online mode(though that defeats the thread's purpose). If you have a friend with the Wii U version, you can still play locally with them. "Fantastic game that's at its best in multiplayer" would be an accurate summary.

A link between worlds is amazing

Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward is my favourite on the 3DS, but you should play the first game first (Easily emulated) Fire Emblem Legend of Zelda: Link Between Worlds Kid Icarus
-
Pokemon, obviously
-
Definitely Kid Icarus: Uprising. Really tight gameplay, if you can find a way to play it without cramping your hands, and a good story. Zelda: A Link Between Worlds looks really promising, but I can't say for sure since I haven't played it. Mario Kart 7 is really fun, but at this point you're probably better off waiting for Mario Kart 8 (if you have or are planning on getting a Wii U).
