Would a lack of anonymity impact your decisions online?

Assume for a moment that the internet was regulated by various governments, and you were required to use your actual name for all of your usernames, and your actual photograph for your profile picture. Anon doesn't exist. Privacy still exists, though: strangers cannot see certain information about you like your phone number and address - Just your name and your image. How would this change the way that you, personally, act on the internet? Would you strive to be as objective and kind as possible? Or would you still troll, assuming you do now? Keep in mind that the majority of the others you interact with will be from other areas of the globe entirely, and do not know your location. If you wouldn't change anything about yourself because of this, how much of a lack of anonymity and privacy would justify you acting differently?

  • In terms of how I post, I wouldn't change at all. The only difference in how I act on the internet and how I act face-to-face is how outgoing I am. I would probably post less in that situation, but otherwise would remain the same.
