Assume for a moment that the internet was regulated by various governments, and you were required to use your actual name for all of your usernames, and your actual photograph for your profile picture. Anon doesn't exist. Privacy still exists, though: strangers cannot see certain information about you like your phone number and address - Just your name and your image. How would this change the way that you, personally, act on the internet? Would you strive to be as objective and kind as possible? Or would you still troll, assuming you do now? Keep in mind that the majority of the others you interact with will be from other areas of the globe entirely, and do not know your location.
If you wouldn't change anything about yourself because of this, how much of a lack of anonymity and privacy would justify you acting differently?

I wouldn't change atall, the only thing that would change is the fact that people would see how much p*rn I watch.
-
It wouldn't really affect me. I'm always nice to everyone. Online, or IRL.
-
In terms of how I post, I wouldn't change at all. The only difference in how I act on the internet and how I act face-to-face is how outgoing I am. I would probably post less in that situation, but otherwise would remain the same.
-
Nope.
-
I suffer from "problems" to say the least and the anonymity allows for me to be more honest and open then I could in real life. To be truthful, if it ever got to the point that I would be forced to reveal my name and face to everyone, I'd probably just stop using the internet altogether.
-
So, like YouTube?
-
major decisions? yes. my personality? i hope not. i try to be as sincere on here as possible.
-
No I would not
-
It does look at this site. Tough guys behind computers
-
I act the way online I do in real life, so no, I wouldn't change.
-
No. - Der

If you consider recognition is a primary motive for morality, something's wrong with you.

I'd make an alt.
-
No Some people here know what I look like, I think that has more of an impact than knowing my name Even so, I still speak my opinion, even if it is against popular consensus
-
I'd shitpost a lot more.
-
I'd still act the same
-
Definitely.
-
No change on my end. Still would type the same.
-
Surprisingly I'd probably be less nice :p
-
I would be much nicer to people if they actually knew who I was.
-
A bit, but I would still find ways of winding people up
-
It wouldn't.
-
BEGINNING TRANSMISSION: (Low melodious hum.) Nothing can restrain me. Nothing will change me. ENDING TRANSMISSION:
-
Considering I freely share my basic information anyways, it would have absolutely no impact on how I present myself because I already act the same as IRL, maybe even slightly nicer than IRL.
-
It would hardly effect me, I try to be myself online.
