Apologies for being the bearer of bad news, but we have no plans for a season 2. That being said, we will absolutely be continuing the story line of those characters and events. In fact, I may or may not have overheard the narrative discussing this very thing recently... :)
Got the confirmation that it won't happen in this thread. Probably not surprising or even new information for some people, but today is the day I think we can finally stop hoping for a new season. A shame, Spartan Ops would've been a great way to keep the story moving forward. Great potential, but it just never had a chance.

i bet the guy that posted that isn't a bear at all!

It was stupid

Edited by Jotaro Kujo PhD: 11/14/2013 3:45:58 AMI would've preferred Spops to literally be game versions of the 10 weekly cinematics. That way, it would have felt more like an actual second campaign than a button-hitting grind. If I wanted to survive against hordes of enemies, I'd play Firefight or Zombies.
-
Spartan Ops was crappy twist that was just a Ripoff on the mode "Special ops" from the Modern Warfare series (COD) Hype = Excited - bored as hell (not surprising)
-
The minute spartan ops list me completely was when there were four buttons all within 3 feet of each other that I had to push
-
They said the same exact thing at their summer panel
-
The story was good, but the gameplay sucked....

Edited by BerzerkCommando: 11/13/2013 11:15:31 AMPeople actually wanted another season of playing the same maps over and over again, hearing "eggheads" constantly by the worst female character ever and pushing buttons nonstop? Spartan OPS should have been like those CO-OP missions in Battlefield 3. They are actually fun because each one is a different map from one another and each one has a different objective to it. Spartan OPS was nothing more than playing the same maps over and over again. You played on a map at least 3 times. And for the objective it was nothing more than 'Crimson push this button. Crimson push that button."
-
SpartanOps was pretty boring, lazily made and ridiculously implemented. Though I might mention that Spartan Ops Season 2 could possibly re-appear in Halo 5. 343 did say "the story of Crimson Team will carry on" or something like that. Maybe at least a reference in the campaign.
-
Hyping Spartan Ops before launch all like, "YEAH! SPARTAN OPS SEASON 1!!" And there is no Season 2. Might as well of just called this Spartan Ops, not Spartan Ops Season 1.
-
Spartan Ops was a BRILLIANT concept that was delivered on HORRIBLY, and should have coexisted with FF, instead of replacing it. Not over recycling maps, having such small maps, mundane objectives, having a terrible story, or horrible characters would have helped a lot too.
-
Does BS stand for Bull Shit?
-
Edited by Legend To None: 11/13/2013 9:53:02 AMYes! That whole thing sucked and was nothing like they said t would be. "A four-player co-OP storyline" more like first-person Spartan Assault. I thought you could go through everything in first-person,not pop in an out of missions with no cutscenes. It's best it's gone until they decide to make a 4-player storyline that is best with 2 people atleast. Like give your character a story, not just shoot through a mission.
-
I never played spartan ops and never will. Found it to be a pointless part of the game and would have rather had firefight which was at least offline capable. The fact Spartan ops couldn't be played offline but required internet was hilarious. No loss that a season 2 is never coming.
-
Even if there WAS a Season 2, I wouldn't play any more of that boring button-pushing-marathon crap.
-
It was a great idea implemented terribly. Reusing multiplayer maps just seemed...... An afterthought. And it was just a bit boring, having to rely on sheer number of enemies to make it more interesting. Season 2 being abandoned makes sense, Halo 4 has terrible numbers so why bother?
-
Edited by UphillMercury: 11/13/2013 6:07:09 AMWell, this certainly doesn't help 343's. reputation. They hailed Spartan Ops as being episodic campaigns to expand upon the mission of Infinity and tell the story of its crew. They promised regular releases of new missions and believed so highly in their new game mode that they scrapped Firefight altogether. Now look where we are. For a developer trying to uphold the quality of a well-known series of games, 343 is taking a step in the wrong direction.

Edited by Dusty: 11/13/2013 6:15:39 PMWhat a disappointment Reed truly is the Shakespeare of our age, Spartan Ops is his Magnum Opus. They obviously have no plans as it is almost impossible to achieve perfection twice. Maybe get Traviss in? That would be perfect

Good.

Makes me think about the days of ODST firefight. Better times, except for the lag. Hard to believe firefight was dropped and exchanged for shit ops, a.k.a. micro-missions with no replayability, no penalty for death and mediocre gameplay just about thrown together. Most of it I can barely remember anyway. The story bored me, if there was one.
-
The spartan ops story was interesting but when it came to gameplay, it was a -blam!-ing snore. "Crimson, push that button." "Crimson, eliminate those enemies." "Marking the last targets for you now!" "Crimson, go push that other button." Repeat 50 times and there you go, you have a summary of all spartan ops chapters.
-
I liked the story, but the gameplay part could've been better :(
-
Seems pretty stupid to label them "Seasons" if they only intended to have one.
-
Having given up on them adding to it about 6 months ago, so this really isn't too surprising. I just hope they don't start thinking it's a good idea to make it into another $60.00 ODST off-shoot.
-
I stopped caring a while ago
-
Hopefully Spartan Ops is gone for good
