in the E3 Demo of Ryse the graphics really impressed me, but I was a bit let down by the combat system being like a bunch of QTE's. I think they changed that though because in the recent video for Ryse it's not so much QTE's any more and it looks pretty fun.

It looks as though the developers at Crytek are creating something novel enough here with Ryse that it shouldn't be tossed aside as just a QTE game. Creating a fluid fighting style while stile giving the player control over the battlefield has always been a struggle for game designers to tackle in action/adventure games. I know that Gameinformer didn't have much praise to give Ryse but, there were also a bunch of other individuals who tried the game and were actually rather impressed by its unique integration of presentation and gameplay. I for one enjoy the distinctive setting and style of this game, it's something Crytex (and to my knowledge, not very many other developers) have never really approached a game with before. I hope that more people give this game a chance, I'd rather see developers take more chances this generation with games instead of just looking forward to the next Call of Duty imitator, and the only way they'd be able to do that is if gamers spoke with where they put their money. Here's to Ryse's hopeful success!
