We need to talk about Destiny because for all the slick on-stage presentations and vi-docs no-one outside of Bungie's Bellevue re-purposed bowling alley base has played the thing.
As reasonable a place as any to begin.
Edit; Came across this playstation access video too. Worth a watch and not sure if posted elsewhere.

Confirmed what I thought/hoped. Having better gear does not necessarily mean you'll win in competitive play. You'll win because you're better, not because you're better outfitted.
-
I'm almost certain that's untrue in a sense. They've almost certainly had focus tests and closed betas. I honestly think we'll get more in-depth information leading up to the Beta. They're not just going to throw us into a beta, and we have no idea what we're suppose to do. They'll explain how to do things. They'll open up the floodgates before the beta, I can almost guarantee.

Bungie doesn't like to talk about Destiny or if they do, it isn't anything in-depth. The Weekly updates are nothing compared to Reach's. The Viddocs also aren't really informative videos on the creative and technical process anymore.

If only there was a way for Bungie to allow all of us to play the game a little before it's released......

This interview actually gave a lot more information than at first glance. It's confirmed or narrowed down a lot of things. They say 3 players is around the size of the typical co-op mission type thing. Public events vary, but 7 is kind of what we can expect, give or take from that a handful of players. Multi-player is what you would expect from multi-player, and social spaces probably have a chunk more than that. But in play spaces, it won't be massive amounts of players.
Eric Osborne: You can't get ganked. You're always electing to jump into that activity.
I like dis.

Sounds awesome... But honestly I'm ready for a little more news than this.
-
They said you have to go back to the City to 'repair'. Does that mean armor/weapon degradation?
-
Definitely the best interview I've read. These guys ask the kind of questions that I would ask, and that's incredibly satisfying.
-
Great link, actually got some solid details. Can't wait to play some strikes and raids.
-
As I've said before and I'll say it again... Following Bungie news is always feast or famine.
-
Actually I'm rather satisfied with this interview.
So you won't hear chat from other players unless they're in your fireteam? Eric Osborne: We're able to define systems, and a lot of this is still in an iterative process, but finding the line between giving those players control over, 'do I want to hear that or not?', is important. If you look at some of our past games you'll get a pretty good idea of what we can do with those sort of systemic things, to allow people to opt into what they want and choose the options that suit their play style.
Indicative of different channel options for chat perchance?
The demo we showed at E3 was seven players in there at the same time. The moon content we showed in the trailer was sourced from a strike, which is a co-operative activity you can play over and over again, and that was three players. Three seems to be the sweet spot we're finding for the smaller co-operative experiences, and then we'll start talking about public spaces - that'll vary - we'll talk about social space - that'll vary as well. Competitive multiplayer won't be three players total! And neither will a raid.
Interesting, I'm wondering if social space addresses the partying up of two or more 3-person fireteams?
