So my question is do you want the sniper or any weapon to be realistic enough that the bullet dips the further it travels? Like in battlefield.
Sorry if this topic has already been discussed but I didn't see it.
Thanks.

Anything that makes sniping more challenging is fine by me. Can't stand sniper type players. The less noobs behind a sniper scope insta winning vs matches due to a sickingly easy and OP sniping mechanic, the better.

I'd like to see it, I'd be interesting. Ballistics behave differently and sometimes strangely in different atmospheres and/or environments or lack there of. On moons you could essentially shoot yourself in the back if you are high enough up. On Mars aerodynamic drag and wind deflection would be minimal, rounds would travel further than it would on earth and impacts would be higher. Explosions would be less effective at a distance, the thin atmosphere would be a lot worse at transmitting an overpressured wave, shrapnel would travel quite a bit further. This goes both ways of course...

There should be an attachment for rifles that has a little dot where the bullet is actually gonna land. Like an aim assist. Or you can have a HUD element when you ADS that shows gravity and wind direction
-
Also you have to take in different atmospheres ( or lack of atmosphere in most planets cases) no wind on some of the planets (ie. moon). I don't think bullet dip would really be a factor anywhere except for our own planet.

I like bullet drop, but remembering how fast bullets drop over four+ celestial bodies is way too much work.

I believe the term is 'bullet drop'. By the title I thought you were going to be petitioning for some special power up tobacco chew for sniper/campers. But yeah I think it would be an interesting metric to add. Make it so places with higher gravity, the bullet falls faster and vice versa, to make it more challenging for every planetary environment you encounter.

not valid on Moon..

Edited by cxkxr: 11/1/2013 10:54:23 AMNo, but I liked the lead your shots mechanic in Halo 3. Where you have to shoot slightly in front of your target, bc it takes time for the bullet to get there. So legit.

In order for that to happen there would need to be. Gravity so it could only happen on earth and that would make things kinda inconsistent
-
That's a layer of immersion to the long range gameplay, snipers need a challenge

No,no bullets to shoot.LOL

Uh we aren't shooting bullets so no ballistics?
