"It was a huge day. We were on for two hours before kick-off: Richard presenting, Andy alongside me and Geoff Shreeves was there too. It was a gamble for us joining Sky because we all had other jobs. Other people turned my role down and I needed some convincing to do it. We’d done some FA Cup matches and England games but nothing more – and then the announcement came that Sky would show the Premier League. I was called straight to the Sky office and the team was put together. And then there we were at the City Ground. I called Teddy’s goal ‘a peach’, it’s a word I’ve hardly used since. It was worthy of winning the first live game – a super goal past David James in the Liverpool net."
