Can "Man of Steel 2" pull off a "The Dark Knight"?
Yes. Here's what I would do:
- Scrap batman completely. I think Bruce Wayne should be present, played by Affleck (sue me, I think he could pull it off) but Batman should not be. Place hints for JL movie
- Give Snyder a blank cheque
- Less involvement from Nolan
- Use MoS1 musical themes, and build upon it (Hans Zimmer, Christopher Drake should collaborate) with the full album
- Lex Luthor, maybe Brainiac as well (if they can pull it off, plot wise)
- Less Warner Bros "Batman makes more money, let's pull an Iron Man and ride his character to make more cash" bullshit. This is Superman's movie, Batman had his time, and will again in the JL Movie
- Let the writers do their stuff, they're great
Now, seeing as that will likely never happen, here's what I would do with the circumstances we're currently given:
- Do not use TDK trilogy's Batman as a reference. Although fantastic, that Batman is nothing compared to the cold, calculated, planning-for-everything master of fear and martial arts Batman that would need to be present in order for him to be a leading member of the Justice League
- Do not feature any Robins in the movie. If anything, make Grayson have a cameo (but not as Justin Bieber. He may be a decent candidate Jason Todd, but he couldn't pull off Grayson)
- Do not let Batman beat the crap out of Superman. There is no way that's possible without the aid of Kryptonite, and even then, Kyrptonian physiology is superior to Human
- Feature Lex Luthor, and perhaps Brainiac

- Scrap batman completely. I think Bruce Wayne should be present, played by Affleck (sue me, I think he could pull it off) but Batman should not be. Place hints for JL movie
Disagreed. IMO, the best choice for the JL movie would be to have Superman and Batman team up in the beginning. As DC's films are usually much more serious than Marvel's, and usually send a deeper "message," I think the best course of action for the Justice League movie to work is to outline the differences between each group and have them work together. In Man of Steel 2, I want to see the first hint of the conflicting ideologies working in tandem to make a better whole. Batman and Superman are about as opposite from each other as they can get, and starting the "message" off with having them team up is the natural thing to do IMO. Think about it this way. The two most revered members of the future JL meet up. They're yin and yang. Superman, right now, believes he is alone in the superpowered world. After he eliminated Zod (who, ironically, was broadcasting the message "YOU ARE NOT ALONE"), he doesn't have any reason to believe that there's anyone else like him, so he's going to go around helping because he believes he's the only one who can. Essentially, he's a young man who wants to do good by fighting for justice. Then you have Batman. He's an older, grizzled, veteran Batman. He's had experience fighting crime, and he's got years and years of combat under his belt. I'm almost certain he'll see Superman as a naive threat to the world- someone this powerful can't remain incorruptible, especially with the damage he caused, right? Of course he's going to have a reason to take out Superman- he does good by fighting against corruption. So I imagine Batman will initially beat Superman. Through this, Superman will learn that he's not exactly the only one powerful enough to help- even an ordinary man can fight as well. He'll finally be able to understand the power of subtlety and calculating logic, and how useful a skill that is- perhaps even lament about how he could have saved so many more by doing so. I believe Superman will then break out of whatever Batman has planned for him, fight Bats some more, and ultimately win. Then it's Batman's time to learn. I want Batman to realize that Superman is actually the real deal- he's truly working for good, and is legitimately incorruptible. But more importantly, I want Batman to realize how Superman fights, and that's through his emotions, and how much he loves humanity. I want Batman to realize that Superman's method of fighting, his dedication to his people, and his willingness to fight for good instead of fighting against bad is what makes him so brilliant. And then, in the final battle against whatever Lex or Brainiac or Metallo or whatnot comes up with, both will work together, bringing about the antithesis to Man of Steel's final battle- one where the two working together minimizes collateral damage, or at least evacuates the city before causing such damages. And at the end, we have the two founding members of the Justice League, yin and yang, realizing that their conflicting ideals are what made them work so well together, and they set off to create the Justice League. So in short, Batman bringing reality to Superman and vice versa would be the best choice for Batman vs. Superman, IMO.
- Give Snyder a blank cheque
Agreed.
- Less involvement from Nolan
Replace him with someone like Grant Morrison or Mark Waid and you've got yourself a goddamn deal. That would be amazing.
- Use MoS1 musical themes, and build upon it (Hans Zimmer, Christopher Drake should collaborate) with the full album
Personally, I believe Man of Steel's soundtrack was at its best when it was doing the ambient, sci fi tracks. Zimmer is great at developing those and working them around, but when it comes to orchestra I believe he falls apart. But still, I loved Man of Steel's soundtrack. Even though most critics didn't.
- Lex Luthor, maybe Brainiac as well (if they can pull it off, plot wise)
Luthor, definitely. Brainiac? With Batman AND Luthor? I disagree. It'd be ridiculous to pull off. I believe Metallo would be a better choice.
- Less Warner Bros "Batman makes more money, let's pull an Iron Man and ride his character to make more cash" bullshit. This is Superman's movie, Batman had his time, and will again in the JL Movie
Agreed, though I'd go for a 65/35 split for screen time.
- Let the writers do their stuff, they're great
Agreed, but I want Frank Miller to take his sh1t and GTFO.
- Do not use TDK trilogy's Batman as a reference. Although fantastic, that Batman is nothing compared to the cold, calculated, planning-for-everything master of fear and martial arts Batman that would need to be present in order for him to be a leading member of the Justice League
Yep. It's definitely not the TDK Batman we're getting. Though I'd love for Affleck to take cues from Bale...
- Do not feature any Robins in the movie. If anything, make Grayson have a cameo (but not as Justin Bieber. He may be a decent candidate Jason Todd, but he couldn't pull off Grayson)
A) Justin Bieber is confirmed not Robin. B) Agreed completely.
- Do not let Batman beat the crap out of Superman. There is no way that's possible without the aid of Kryptonite, and even then, Kyrptonian physiology is superior to Human
I don't want them to suck on Batman's d1ck like they did in TAS, or go full retard Frank Miller style, but I'd like to see Batman beat Superman for reasons listed above. And I'd like to see Supes beat Batman right back.
- Feature Lex Luthor, and perhaps Brainiac
Lex is confirmed (pretty much at the least), and I wouldn't like Brainiac for reasons above.
