I wanna say that the rating may be important in countries as USA where the stores can't sell a Mature rated game to an underaged kid, but it dosen't actually apply to every country, here in Mexico for example, the people from the stores rarely ask for your ID, even if a little kid comes with an extremely violent game in his hands. SO, in terms of actually increasing the selling ammounts of the game world wide I don't think it will make a significant difference. Even if the people from the store won't sell the game to an underaged kid, his older brother could buy the game and give it to them and that wouldn't stop them for playing.
