Opinions on the Steam Controller
Personally, I think it's very interesting. It looks to have the potential to either be very intuitive or gimmicky. I've always hated using a keyboard an mouse for non-RTS games, and controllers have been void of innovation for a while. It's interesting because it's something completely new. It could either be the best controller ever or a total failure. Touch pads could go either way. On one hand they're really different from analogue sticks, on the other hand touch is probably the most intuitive form of control and its something we use all the time these days.
