Why Can´t We Post In Private Groups When We´re Banned?

Okay, I can understand because some threads go public, but isin´t it easy to simply not allow the banned member to post on threads that go public? Why not keep the bans policy the same as on .old where if you were banned on the mains, you could still post in the private groups you were in? If you´re an all around asshole, then the admins in the group (beacuse moderators sure as shit aren´t going to do it since there aren´t any) could ban you. I just find it stupid that once you´re banned, you canno´t do nearly anything on the site. I´m surprised you even left us the option to send and recieve private messages. All this does is make people make more alts to bypass the filter. In my main group, I´m the other only admin (the other is out on hiatus) and if I´m banned, who´s going to ban members who start posting spam and NSFW content? There aren´t any mods, so that option is out. Even admins who are banned can´t do anything in their own groups. Makes absolutely no sense. And sure, you can say ´then don´t let those members in the group!´. Sure, that could work, but with the way Private Groups have been roadkilled with the update, we´re not at the liberty to get picky with members in order to maintain/increase activity to survive. If they act up, then they get the boot. But what do you do if nobody can do it? Is the webteam going to fix this issue and set it back to how it was, or is this something final? If you guys ever plan on actually fixing private groups, I´d like to put this out there as a suggestion for improvements.

  • We wanted to create an incentive for civility. Someone with something to lose tends to think twice before they disrupt the harmony of the community. What's more, as many of you have said, it's pretty hard to get banned these days.

    • So you're saying that even though you were banned, you expect to still have privileges? And if you can't have those, then you will create an alternate account to bypass the ban in order to not only get those privileges back, but to also have full access again to post? Is that what you're saying? Why can't you just accept the ban and the consequences for why you were banned? Do you feel like you are above the rules? Or perhaps that the rules are just stupid? Or could it be that you see a lot of people doing it, so you do it too? I'm being serious. I really want to know how you think and why.

You got one because of offensive content. I believe the community felt your thread about your strip club experience was not appropriate. It is NOT a bug that bans affect group posts. Don't expect that to change.

Posted by: Achronos I'm not sure what you mean. Are you mad that you can't crap up the public forums then go laugh about in private groups? Before, the public forums had much more strict moderation, so we felt that groups were a nice place to relax the rules a bit. Now, we relaxed the everywhere, there are very few things that can get you banned, and even then, most of those only will trigger if the community reports it enough. Even the profanity filter has loads less words in it. The price for that incredible freedom, for being treated like adults, is that you don't get to subvert the view rules remaining and then still use the site in your group. It's like you want to have no consequences for you actions, yet still be treated like an adult.

          • It's been a long time since I first read the answer to this, but I'm half-sure that Recon Number 54 said it was so banned people could learn their lesson instead of just waiting it out on private groups.

            • It's either because they actively hate private groups or because the web team's bad at its job.
