Before moving onwards, please skim over the original post and the comments if you want a more detailed version. Original post here! Now let us move onwards... Ive kept close tabs to all of your ideas and suggestions and tried to compile it into a visual translation along with a poll. YAY!
The air, it is different here. I cannot place my finger quite on what it is... I press onwards regardless, through massive fronds and vines that are obscuring my path. The path widens, it becomes much easier to navigate this harsh land. I can see my destination ahead of me.
The Guardian's Door. Even though it is modern in appearance, towering scores of meters tall and wide and composed of a foreign gray-black substance, the vines and trellises have done a fantastic job melding it into its surroundings. I found it almost peculiar how the tiniest of vines have found their way into the crevices of the engravings splayed across the entirety of the Door. It was fitting. It belonged. The moment of truth has arrived. I step closer, remove my helmet and let it fall from my hands, and breathe heavily... Nervously. The condensation of my breath clings to the face of the Door, but only for a moment, then it is gone. I raise my bare hand, trembling, and begin to move it forward. Closer... Closer...
It feels colder than I expected it to, given the time of day and tropical setting, I expected it to sear my hand. My heart skips a beat. It didn't work! But just as I had nearly lost faith, a sharp jolt of electricity strikes my palm! From where I made contact, a dull blue light shimmers across the face of the Door, not unlike the ripple effect seen when you drop a stone into a lake. Only the light is increasing in frequency and intensity, until nearly the entire Door is bathed in blue light! Its beautiful! And then its gone.
I await. And finally, I hear it. The soft sound of the internal components moving is reassuring. I step back and watch. The door seems to fold into itself, leaving an opening roughly the same size and shape as the doors back home. Home... It has been a long time. But soon... Never mind that, I can see my destination.
The Ethereal Grove. My eyes well up at the sight of it. It is much more beautiful than the stories and my imagination could have ever painted. As far as my eyes can see, Guardian's trees tower in different stages of development. I see saplings, with their young, hopeful auras. And those towering Ancients! Magnificent to behold! I walk towards the closest one, to discover what I might about it's owner. Engraved in that gorgeous blue bark is the name the Guardian bestowed upon it. Freyja. Im unsure to its origins, but it clearly meant a lot to it's owner. And right next to that engraving is an old assault rifle, I don't bother touching it, it wouldn't matter. I look up, high up in the branches I see tendrils of blue playing amongst the foliage. The Sjinrah, or memories of the Guardian. I find myself already moving my hand towards the base of the tree, and as soon as I make contact, the Sjinrah all rush across the bark and into me! My mind's eye is flooded with the experiences and memories of the owner of this tree, if I focus, I can see specific instances. Glorious battles. Depressing reminders. Views from the top of the Tower. A friend. I release my hand, and a tear falls from my eye. This. This is beauty. It is my time.
I venture through the forest for a little while longer. I have found a place, nice and open, surrounded by the young and the old. I reach into my bag and remove a small black silk bag. Releasing the contents onto my palm. My seed. From the moment it touches my skin it glows blue, like they do. Otherwise unremarkable, for now. I get on one knee and stoop lower. I do not have to dig deep. Sowing my Destiny into this land, amongst others. There's something about it. And it did not take long for me to realize. I belong. This is my home. This is beauty. This... Is my Destiny.
And there you have it! I hope you all like it, I did not put much time into it, as time is not something that I have much of. So I kinda just poured my imagination into it. I hope that it is understandable. So now its poll time! Please vote and if you have any more ideas please add them in the comments below!

Edited by BearCat: 9/17/2014 10:27:04 AMI remember this from like 2 years ago! See people, this is what Destiny forums used to be like. Take example from this post.

I'd love if as the game went on that tree near the gunsmith grew bigger, winding around so you could climb to the top still every time it grew
-
Duuuuude that was awesome, double bump.
-
This is one of the best ideas I've ever read. So awesome.
-
This is a really cool idea and I loved reading it. I would recommend trying to write some fan fiction because I would buy a book that was written like this. Particularly if it was set in this universe. Grea job and really awesome idea I hope u write more about it or come up with more cool ideas and write small stories or them too.

If this doesn't make it into the game I'll be depressed.
-
Once again you've impressed me with your writing style. This is just awesome.. The whole idea
-
Wow! Standing up and applauding. While I was reading this it kinda felt like I was there. I would love to see this in the Destiny lore somewhere.
-
I like your writing style. Very well done.

This really is a brilliant idea mate, I sincerely hope it makes it's way into the actual game. It'd be fantastic! Great idea :o)

Your Ethereal Tree post is what inspired me to start writing Destiny FanFics. This is further solidifying that resolve.
-
...*single tear drop falls down in a manly way* Awesome.
-
I love it :') Seriously though, I really hope that more than just a log of achievements in Destiny.
-
Once again I'd just like to say... *clears throat* YES! YESSSS! DO IT! And further more... YES! I was hoping we'd get back on this subject, so now we know the numbers, it's Bungie's move.

this is my idea: what if the tree grows brighter with every good act and diminishes its glow with every chaotic one. It could go from golden to black as coal with every seed of chaos that you plant on your way to ''save the earth''

Edited by Gilgamesh: 10/4/2013 5:06:17 AMI love how you portrayed the idea and the emotion you put in your words... just awesome... I picked the first choice because(you'll have to forgive me, I read the original post before but its been awhile) it seems more likely with such a large community like our's. I think the tree should be in our ship or home though, which may be two in one. Who knows? Like you said in this post though, I think we should be able to place weapons with our tree, and implant our memorys in them. I think your idea is really cool and possible, since it would be another way tell our story. (Deej recently said that our armor, weapons, and character would tell our story) Anyway I hope bungie considers your idea. From: Gilgamesh the warlock

Beautiful!

This is a bit off the topic, but had to share. My daughter's new math software at school gives them an avatar and a seed to plant. The seed grows into a tree and spreads its branches and foliage based on their performance and accomplishments in the math software. When I saw that, the ethereal tree thread was the first thing I thought of and It was cool to see a working example of a similar Idea. The image is of the "store" where with points from their math games they can purchase items to decorate their tree.

Edited by E Sword of LORD: 9/19/2013 7:06:08 PMA tree that grows a grove you visit by way of transport to an altered dimensional pocket, similar to the sphere. :) One tree per account with above "ground" growth to represent each type visible as seperate. Use different plaques that higlight a differnt section when displaying details for each charchter made.
