It's 2134, Earth has been recovering at a pretty decent pace from the massive war that ended some 35 years ago. In said time, the NASA and the United States Space Command have began settling people on Mars, Europa and Titan, along with Alpha Centauri to be colonized within 10 years. The Moon still has relatively little habitation and mostly serving as a fuel stop, tourist destination and a place to find decades old missile bases from the war. Anyway, with the new interplanetary colonies all able to sustain themselves fully and trade between planets being established, thing are going pretty good for most everyone, however.... About a week ago, a couple of Independent Geologists on Mars were collecting samples for study when they came across a small puddle of a dark reddish-orange, semi thick, sticky liquid. Curious at what they found, the geologists took a sample of it back to their lab to conduct research. That same day, the duo happened to discover that the liquid was in fact, very much like crude oil, only this oil lasted longer and gave of 4 times the energy of earth oil. With this discovery came not potential, but stories of the last great oil powered nations, the chaos over the last bits of oil in the middle east as the post-revolution US moved to much more efficient and renewable energy sources to fuel it's volatile technological advancement, how the Chinese clamored and consumed some 50% of the Earth's remaining oil to care for it's 3 Billion citizens and fuel it's War Machine against Russia and the US, China's ultimate defeat in 2057 causing the crude oil crash..... Despite their fears of history from a little less than 100 years prior repeating itself, the two decide to show off their discovery anyway. Thankfully, no one has yet clamored for the new "Red Oil" as the two had come to call it. While America had no need for the substance, others may soon come for the stuff. Giant Corporations who have seemingly become nations of their own, such as the Alber-Oman Corp. that turned southern Indonesia and Northern Australia into one, massive city-state have seemed to have peeked interest in Red Oil....
