Do you think it's possible for a person to give a 110% of their effort and determination to something? Or is it just a glamorous saying?
If you said maybe please elaborate which cases you think it can apply to, and which it cannot apply to.
-
In all technicality, no. I think I read somewhere that your body will generally only work at 80% of what it's able to.
-
100 is considered the max by most, but say you choose to say your maximum is 1000, then giving 110% would be fricken lazy.

Edited by Verbatim: 9/6/2013 8:20:24 PMNo, that's silly. The only time it's acceptable is in hyperbole, or if whatever you're describing just transcends what you're aiming for. Which, in all actuality, and when it matters, rarely happens.
-
Of course we can. We're humans not cyborgs... Remember that episode of Teen Titans?
-
If someone considers something that they did 110% of their possibly effort, it's obviously not more than they could possibly do because they actually did it, so it isn't above 100%.

Edited by Kalameet: 9/6/2013 6:26:53 PMIt's possible for a person to give 110% of their perceived limit, but not their actual physical limit.
-
If you suddenly have an unusual burst of adrenaline does that mean you are using more than your 100%, or are you just only capable of using less than 100% normally and with the adrenaline you reach 100%?
-
No, because "110%" is what people call your max, correct? ...So that's actually your 100%.
-
Yeah, in the sense of breaking perceived personal limits, otherwise it's kinda impossible to succeed maximum power.
-
If somebody can put in more effort than they are currently doing , then your not giving the maximum effort in the first place. Think about it, if you put 100% into trying to lift/move something your really going to hurt yourself and your muscles are not built to give 100% outside of life or death situations.
-
Yes. Anyone who says no, obviously has never played sports and turned on that extra gear in crunch time.
-
If you are exerting 100% of your physical ability, then, you get an adrenaline boost, run faster, get stronger, all that stuff, you will be passing your physical ability, going into that 110% range. So maybe, depending on how you look at it.
-
In short, you can only give what you've got!
-
You can't go beyond 100%.
-
-
Why is this even a question? Anyone who says yes doesn't understand incredibly basic mathematics.
-
Yes but that is based on what a 100% is. In sports over 100% of optimal performance is dangerous and push the body. Can cause injury.
-
Not voluntarily, but in cases of extreme danger you can give well over 100%
-
Yeah, it is Impossible. Because %100 is EVERYTHING a person can give.
