I probably would understand what he's saying if there wasn't a provocative blue female hologram in Halo.

2 RepliesCortana is Bungie's creation. Can't have a go at 343 for bringing her into the new generation, with greater visual fidelity. She's no more sexualised in 4, than she is in 3. I think he could have chose a better word than 'disgusting', but what she has on is not even sexy, it's just degrading. I hear she was tortured, or something, so there may be a reason behind her appearance; however Kojima says that he designed her specifically to be sexy/erotic to sell figures and in anticipation of cosplay. And then there's that twitter, communicating with cosplayers, with a full blown shot of Quiet's ass. Just...no.

Does she look like something I'd be bangin' monday - Friday? Not necessarily. The image of the character being made for that MGS games is miles above cortona on a scale of being provocative.

The thread is 50 pages of attacks on the guy who had nothing to do with cortana's design. Instead of discussing whether Quiet's character model represents maturity or immaturity, the thread is really just name-calling and debating whether or not Cortana can give a guy a boner. My personal view: let developers (Kojima) design their games how they want to, and let developers (David) speak their opinion without creating a virtual witch-hunt.. Though if we want to talk Cortana vs. Quiet, cortana has the excuse of being some dumb blue ai blah blah blah. Quiet's design on the otherhand... I wouldn't call it "disgusting" (let's not be "man babies" here lol - nothing disgusting about features of a woman)... but, it contextually doesn't make sense. No one expects a soldier/fighter to be wearing a skimpy bra, thong, and ripped spandex. Give her a camo suit or some shit to wear as protective gear.

His stupid ass game is focused on being the same shit over and over again, and to cater to acne riddled 230 lb feminists who tweet their food recipes to kiki wolfkill, just because his wife doesn't let him get laid and made him castrate himself because of his "evil male genes" doesn't mean he has to talk back to someone who's better than him at everything he's ever done. I honestly prefer sexy outfits over female characters who are "independent, strong, and capable" enough with the bullshit about females in gaming when you've done nothing for them. Sara palmer sucks, every female marine looks like a butch, and the only hot girl is cortana and she's not even real. He has no business speaking about females.

It's like it's physically impossible for them to write a believable strong female character in any of their games. Although David Ellis has little room to talk considering Cortana is naked.

Also like what Fat Man 3,000 was saying she was being tortured. When Snake was getting tortured his top clothing was removed. 8 RepliesThe thing I don't like about Quiet's outfit is just how impractical it is. Just [i]imagine[/i] the sunburn she's going to get lying around in the desert like that. I realise we know barely anything about her, but the outfit doesn't seem to make much sense from a character viewpoint either. Eva's neckline may have reached her belt buckle, but that fit with her femme fatale thing. She was actually [i]trying[/i] to distract people (and make Snake uncomfortable). What's Quiet's reason? She's a sniper: who's she going to distract?

2 Repliesthere is nothing wrong with the way cortana looks, and there is nothing wrong with the way quiet looks. both are sexualized, but does it matter? no. male characters are also sexualized in video games from time to time, believe it or not, but nobody cares. why should it be any different with female characters? plus, mgs is no stranger to sexualizing characters and everything they do, why are people kicking up a fuss now? i bet if kojima hadn't said anything, no one would care. we had seen the character before he made those statements right? oh no i get it, it's fine as long as he doesn't directly just come out and say they sexualized this character, right? the whole argument is stupid, and david ellis should probably think more before he posts shit on the internet.

He has a point you know. Cortana is quite revealing... However I'm mature enough to realize she is only a character in a fictional game etc. blah blah. Its the younger generation that it concerns.
