The Traveler is from planet Spaceball.
I can't believe I never noticed it, the Traveler looks like it came from planet Spaceball. Perhaps the magic that the traveler has given to the guardians is actually the Schwartz. Maybe the last city isn't even humans, but Spaceballs. Perhaps they are there in order to keep a hold of earth until Spaceball One is recreated and they can take the air from the planet.

Agreed. They are indeed a peaceful race. This particular one loved earth and its inhabitants. So it killed itself to protect them and the earth.
