Well, the last time I've been here was back in March, thought I'd come back to talk about Kingdom Hearts with some other fans that are here. As well as the fact 1.5 will soon be hitting the shores. Anywho, this is regarding the names of the characters, and the meanings of their names, which if ya never looked into it its quite mind-blowing. (spoilers for anyone interested) Anyone who's played the game should know the names I am mentioning though and where they are from. Alright so here we go because this is going to hurt your head. This'll be about how the Original trio (Kairi, Riku and Sora) and how they are linked to their 'masters' because when you think about it Ventus, Terra and Aqua (from BBS) are the reason, or a helping as to why the other three can use Keyblades. Also how the Nobodies of Kairi and Sora are also linked to their original selves..... So here, we, go. I'll sort these out straight from the beginning, so you'll just have to figure out why those names (the characters) are relating to each other. So lets start at the obvious. Sora = Sky Ventus = Wind Roxas = Latin for 'being without someone' Vanitas = Latin for Vanity, also meaning excessive pride (being the dark side of Ventus that makes sense). Kairi = Sea, or ocean village Aqua = water (duh) Namine = 'Nami' in the name means wave Xion = which apparently also means Water Then lastly Riku = Shore (which makes sense with the whole beach thing) Terra = The earth So lets put this together. Between the original 3 Sora is the sky and Kairi is the Ocean between the sky and the shore (which is Riku) showing the confliction both Riku and Sora had together because of Kairi, quite clever. Though all together those 3 represent everything. Roxas under a stroke of luck also has a meaning, that of 'being without someone' so thats obvious, because he is a 'Nobody' (of Sora) he has no heart, no one else. It's pretty deep. Ventus is the wind (says for his fighting style) and is one with the sky, which inevitably comes true to a sense. Aqua is the same as Kairi, which is surprise how alike they are. Terra is the Earth, the rock in the trios friendship, much like Riku the Earth was distanced from the Sky and cause trouble (him and Riku are very alike, even if Riku acts cool most of the time). Eventually when both trios got together they all joined to hold eachother together, quite cute how the names came together to fit so snug. Now quickly diverting to Vanitas, which seeing from the definition, it explains itself, he is a cruel self-seeing only caring for himself and his power. Then lastly how Namine and Xion come in, well Namine is of course Kairis Nobody, though unlike Roxas her name is closer to her Originals, which seeing from both of their nature's, is acceptable, both kinda warming people. Then Xion, only connected to Sora through his lost memories, though Kairi being the most fond and strong, the Nobody takes her appearance, being quite the resemblance, physical and mental, to Kairi, thus her name also strangly means water. Anywho I hope fans like myself of the series find it useful and interesting. That Nomura is a tricksy little Hobbit I say, but he is a clever one and made one of the best stories to exist.
