Speaking with VideoGamer during Gamescom, Battlefield 4 executive producer Patrick Bach spoke on whether or not their take on Star Wars would be more like Battlefield or something different and it turns out that they don’t really know.
“We haven’t really locked that down yet. I think there’s of course a part of the DICE DNA to build the games that we’re building, but then again we’re building games like Mirror’s Edge as well. So I think it will be a challenge for us. [You’re] damned if you do, damned if you don’t. People don’t want another Battlefield with Star Wars graphics; they want a Star Wars game that is proper… But then again, if you compromise brilliant design choices from Battlefield just because you’re not allowed from some kind of moral standpoint, then I think that’s also wrong. We need to make the best game possible. What that means in detail, we will see.”
So this brings me to the question, how would you like it to be done?
-
Multiplayer with bots Large scale battle Classes based on characters from the franchise Galactic conquest via XBL + PSN Vehicular combat like a mother-blam!-er Hero units (Not every gamemode) Custom game options extensive ruleset options for maps Dedicated 1st/3rd person switching button on consoles. Spaaaaaaaaaaace, As long as most of these are there, the game will do fine.
-
Lol this game is going to get pushed back and eventually cancelled. God would I love to see the rage everywhere if that happened.
-
So basically what he's saying is this game is a long long long way away
-
battleifled skin with elements of swbf
-
do you have link to article?
-
I really don't want it to be Battlefield with a Star Wars skin.
-
Battlefront should be like Battlefront and not a generic FPS.
-
Honestly, a starwars themed battlefield would be the safest bet, but I don't think the vehicle mechanics for Battlefield fit in a Battlefront game, but keeping the weapon mechanics wouldn't be a terrible idea.
-
I would like, like the games in the past except better 1st person so like a halo 1st person(with the helmet and HUD) and most importantly AI players, so you can atleast have huge battles instead of 16 campers with wide open space sitting there. Also the assault, hunt, and all of those games.Csnt forget mabye a 2-player story or 4-player but atleast 2.
-
I want the game to have a unit system that the first and second games use, but we are able to customize each unit. I want to be able to rock the Droideka again.
-
A Battlefield game with a Star Wars skin sounds great to me. It certainly would fit the archetype of vehicle and class infantry combat we've seen in other Star Wars games.
-
Hey, I heard this game is goona be an X1 exclusive. Is this true? I'll be bloody pissed if that's true!
-
How about DICE takes it in the -blam!-ing direction Battlefront games go. How hard is this to figure out?
-
I wouldn't mind it being a Battlefield game with a Star Wars skin because A: Battlefield was a great game B: This is Star Wars which means Sci-Fi so it's going to be different C: To be honest, the old style of Battlefront was fun but I just don't think it can live up to the high standards of shooters these days. Now if they throw in some things like space battles (which they better have) and more Star Wars Sci-Fi game types and game elements then this should be different enough from Battlefield to not be called Star Wars Battlefield but fun and modern enough to make a great game. This is my opinion though so if yours is different please don't kill me.
-
I would definitely like to see a departure from the stuff done in battlefront 2. More of an emphasis on nicely balanced infantry control point battles than the "work up to Jedi then sweep the entire enemy army" gameplay that we saw in Battlefront II. I'm also not too sure about the surface to space battles people want, I think capturing the essence of infantry battle is important, and around that you can come up with innovation that will further evolve the gameplay.
-
Just give me a Star Wars skinned Battlefield 5 and I'll be good.
-
It'll probably be aimed at the "modurn gamur" with micro transactions thrown in because EA.

Edited by darthrevan96: 8/26/2013 10:34:41 PMIf it's Battlefield: Star Wars I won't get it. If there aren't heroes I won't get it. If there isn't first to third person switching on the fly, I won't get it. If there's no rolling, I won't get it. If it's not on Wii U, I [likely] won't get it. If it's 80 dollars I won't get it I doubt I'll get it but we'll see what becomes of it.

Just how the old games were.
-
I want it to not have the lens flare and excessive screen shaking at every explosion that battlefield has. I also want it to stay true to the Star Wars art style. I really want a commando class that uses the Dc-17. Keep the ground and space thing, but make it so that the people in space don't just start farming the ground. Also the kill times should be like battlefield, but no projectile bullets. P.S. No force users please.
