An Activity for Every Mood?

Normally my threads are speculative and overly optimistic, but I need some help with this one... Bungie continues to focus on pillars of their game design, one of them being: "we want to have an activity for every mood." They mention it all the time. The problem with that is when you said you have an open world and "an activity for every mood", people start taking wild stabs in the dark. I have considered so many things that Bungie could mean by this: altering the environment (like Forge), purchasing property homes and items to fill it, participating in random community events, etc. I know these are MMO-ish ideas, but it's hard not to think that way when Bungie phrases it as such. But video after video, interview after interview, it seems like the pillar should say "we want to have an activity (with a gun) for every mood". It seems like our options are less MMO and more FPS: shoot by yourself, shoot with your friends, shoot with strangers, shoot strangers. I'm not trying to be a Debby Downer here and I really hope I'm wrong, but how is Destiny going to be any different than Halo? Halo had all of those features, and I guess I'm waiting to see how Destiny is going to be different/better than what we have already experienced. Please no fan-boy flaming. I am a huge Bungie fan and have already pre-ordered Destiny, I just want to have a realistic conversation about what this Pillar really means.

They keep reiterating that it is a "Shared World Shooter," with an emphasis on the Shooter part, and not an MMO. When I first heard the "something for every mood" jargon, I automatically assumed it was something for every mood to do with guns. Hunting, practicing, fighting, crafting/upgrading, but other things like walking around, trading, working on your space ship. Not once have I ever considered Destiny an MMO, yes, it does have MMO-esque features, but what I take from that is it is a Large Open World, Bungie throws in thousands of players that can choose/not choose wether or not to engage in the Shared World Shooter features. When people think of Destiny, they need to just drop the whole MMO thing, it is not an MMO, and Bungie has reiterated this several times. Destiny is much different than Halo, how does Halo have all the features Destiny does? It doesn't.
Please no fan-boy flaming. Realistically, if you want to discuss what that Pillar means, you have to throw MMO out of the window.
