(Yeah, I'm probably going to be put on some NSA watchlist because of this thread but who cares? I'm probably on there already due to my religion. So here we go:)
Sometimes I wonder about this. You know the saying "one mans terrorist is another man's freedom fighter" right? Look at what our government has come to. They secretly violate our rights, let the rich get what they want, and let the lower and middle class people get screwed over and over again. Oh and yes, many cops, soldiers, and government officials seem to be above the law because they tend to get away with a bunch of bullshit.
This sounds a lot like some modern/medieval era mash-up. Where the royalty (corrupt govt workers, and the upper class) got what they want at the cost of the serfs (lower and middle class citizens). The Templar/Knights (soldiers/cops) get to -blam!- and kill innocents during war and also kill whoever snitches on them (whistle blowers). Oh and if you can bribe the royalty (politicians) enough you get to do what you want!
Why are there so many parallels to such a shitty time period in our history? Are we heading there again? How is our government of "democracy" any better than the dictators' we tend to kill off?
Now let's take a look at why the terrorists do what they do by putting it into perspective with a little /b/tard le-meme arrow story:
>Be middle eastern dude named Mustafa Ibn Siddiq
>Be 15
>Dad left to go buy food from the store
>Never came home
>Finds out the next day he was shot in the cross-fire from American soldiers
>Be pissed off at America
>fast forward
>Be 18 and with a band of gunmen
>all of the gunmen knew family who were killed by American intervention (drones, soldiers)
>time for some revenge
>ambush some ameri-blam!- evil Christians
>shoot at ameri-blam!- soldiers
>kill two
>runaway after two friends next to me get blown to bits from SAW fire
>run home and cry
>mother thinks I'm a hero for avenging dad's death
>younger brother also wants to be an hero
>pray
>sleep
>fin
So now that is how some of our terrorists are made and why it seems like our soldiers are always killing and killing. I believe not all of them are hater just for the sake of hating us "evil westerners". They just hate that their home has been war torn due to the:
Iraq War
Afghanistan War
Cold War
Desert Fox
Gulf War
World War II
USSR
[insert random drone strike here]
I mean the more fathers we kill the more sons will turn against us. For every town we bomb we bomb we're only recruiting more terrorists for our "enemy". These enemies USED TO BE ON OUR SIDE! Osama and Sadaam used to be on our side, how do you think they got US STINGER MISSLES? Most of these dictators that the people in those countries are now rebelling against were placed by the US. We refused to aid the Chechnyan's in Russia screwed them over, so now Russia treats them like dirt (btw those Boston "Pressure-Cooker Bombers" were Chechnyan).
Posted by GT Stryker:
This country is incredibly hypocritical, this stuff happens to middle easterners and people will say, oh, just a casualty of war.
Look at 9/11. The entire country was rioting for blood.
The above quote is pretty much why I think the population there is up in arms.
So are the terrorists really the bad guys? Whenever a whistle blower lets the people know the truth they get thrown into jail, have to go into hiding, get sued into bankruptcy, get accused of treason, or they'd turn up "missing". So why go about it peacefully if you get accused of treason? You're pretty much treating the whistle-blower like the enemy (read: terrorist).

Evil is in the eye of the beholder. And history is written by the winners.
-
Yes, but we're as bad or worse than them. Obviously Al-Qaeda and the Taliban are the bad guys, the question is whether we're the good guys.
-
Back before 'Murika intervened the Taliban were actually doing a better job than the Afghani Government, They were burning the poppy fields and keeping general order. I'm not saying that their extortion and hardline sharia law was perfect, but it's far better than bus bombing fundamentalists and a puppet Kharzi.

Well, about the Chechan war, would we US REALLY want to get involved in a war with Russia? Now that would be even worse than it is now. The war would still be raging and our spendings on it would be astronomical. Chechnya is Russia. If the people of North Dakota uprose, would you just let them claim independance? Dont think so. As for the Cold war, it was never really about real combat. It was all about who had the most nukes and who was the most intimidating because they never engaged in full combat, unless you count the Korean war a war against USSR. The US is in $14,000,000,000,000 of debt today, the most in the world, think of how much more we would be in if the helped chechnya agains Russia. We would have probably lost and wasted money. Iraq supposedly had nuclear weapons so if thats true, thats a good enough reason to invade Iraq. I forget anything else u were talking about so ill leave it at that.

There is no such thing as a bad guy, good and evil are subjective. Every side paints the other as the monsters simply because our interest don't align. This is how life has always worked.
-
I'm not saying we're completely innocent in all this, but we aren't the ones intentionally targeting civilians and murdering those who disagree with us. we attack the people who actually want us dead, and unfortunately innocents sometimes get killed in the crossfire, be we aren't sending out suicide bombers to blow up marketplaces, or assassinating little girls who want an education.

If you look at Iraq rebels, these are people that throw acid at women for wanting to be educated, who kidnap children to raise as soldiers, and bomb innocents in a campaign against the governments in middle eastern countries who are anti extremism, and train nationals to commit suicide bombings in western nations. The american military is probably the biggest terrorist organisation on the planet, but their terrorist acts are usually done by soldiers out of turn, or by pure accident or isolated incidents of poor leadership. In my opinion, the middle eastern guys are at the very least, just as bad, if not worse.

Edited by Banned Sparkles : 8/22/2013 5:19:30 PMOf course not. The American government needs a big, bad bogeyman to justify their totalitarian criminality with regards to the petrodollar. Not to mention they funded Mujahideen warriors in Afghanistan when they fought the Soviets, and that Bin Laden was on the CIA payroll. The US is funding extremists in Syria, even going as far as providing them with chemical weapons, and why? To have the justification to keep Iran in check. That being said, the actions of Islamic and Arab extremists are inexcusable and - as far as 'morality' can be applied - immoral. But in the grand scheme of things, America and its Zionist cocksuckers are worse.

What makes it easy to kill terrorists is the fact that they do not discriminate when it comes to carrying out their attacks. Tis a good feeling when you help one of those bastards arrange a meeting with their maker.

Terrorists are douches. Have a magical day :D .

Tl;dr the tl;dr. To answer the Title: Yes.
-
Democracy is the worst form of government, besides all the others this basically sums it up
-
Most of them are brainwashed, some are inherently evil. Either way they take innocent lives so I have no qualms with opposing them
-
Your username kind of blurred into the title as I read it, and it looked like "Are the terrorist ninjas really the bad guys?"
-
At this point, the War on Terror has degraded to Sunnis' and Shias' car bombing each other, with the odd US Hellfire strike thrown in. The threat of large scale domestic attacks on the US has declined considerably, since terrorist groups like Hamas and Al-Qaeda are more interested in duking it out with each other in Syria. I can't call either side "good". Basically, what the Sunnis' and Shia's are doing to each other is the same as what the Catholics and Protestants were doing to each other 400 years ago, only now with AKs, C4, and RPGs. Minimizing civilian casualties are of no concern to either side.
-
Edited by Inyaccurate: 8/22/2013 11:39:17 PMA terrorist's goal is to instill fear into a general populace to get what they want. That's why they're called terrorists. We don't really do that.
-
>Invade country >Kill civilians >Occupy country >People fight back >Terrorists We're worse than the British in the Revolution.
-
When our (U.S.) military kills civilians it's because of collateral damage. When a terrorist kills civilians it's because they wanted to. I'm not saying that killing isn't bad, but what we're talking about here is manslaughter versus murder.
-
Real terrorists (murder, hijacking, hostage-taking, etc.) are the "bad guys." The problem is that the term "terrorist" seems to be a label for anyone who a political party sees as radical (read: not aligned with their views) or doesn't like. Example: "Obama is a terrorist." I've actually heard this before in all seriousness. No, Obama is not a terrorist if you don't like him. Another beef of mine is that the excuse "terrorism" seems to be a great way of passing completely unconstitutional or broken laws (read: Patriot Act) for the sake of "national security." It's just not rational; it's hysteria. Before terrorism was the excuse, communism was. Even before communism was the excuse, witches were. I don't usually get angry, but one of the few things that will really piss me off is mass hysteria, especially when it starts to encroach upon rights. /rant

Well Snowden keeps being called a terrorist, and all he did was tell people about the bad things the US and the UK have been doing. Kinda like being branded a criminal for exposing a crime
