Cars these days just aren't as beautiful as the ones in the past. Mike Musto poses a good question "When was the last time you saw a beautiful car that wasn't an exotic?" Now I know that there are new safety regulations but still why can manufactures make things beautiful again?
-
Safety stuff the government forced on manufacturers. That's why the 80's had such crappy looking cars. No one knew how to make them safe without looking like crap.
-
I know what you mean OP most new cars besides mustangs supercars and camaros they are all fugly. Lets go back to making cars look like the 60s and 70s now that's where the cool cars are from.
-
Probably because of nostalgia, just like always.
-
To be honest, I don't like the look of most old cars. I prefer the aerodynamic look of modern cars.
-
Modern day design and aerodynamics =/= old design class It's not to say that some modern cars aren't stylish. I love the lines on the F430, but it is hardly as elegant as an Auburn Boat tail or a 1923 Mercedes, or even a '40 Ford.
-
Because new car designs are all at the mercy of a wind tunnel.

Edited by Zizzy: 8/14/2013 8:58:51 PMWeren't all cars "exotics" back in the day?
-
Dude, old cars are boxy and have sharp edges. That's ugly as -blam!-. New cars are much more rounded, and much nicer looking.
-
Old cars were boxes wit a horrible drag coefficient. Functionality is a part of the appeal of a car. Today, cars are very powerful and IMO, much better looking. When I see a box car, I don't see brute power, I see a kid eating glue.
-
Because people's taste in cars are changing.
