OP, you're a little extreme. My solution to the problem is to let people who are on welfare get a job but still get welfare for a while. That way, it provides an incentive to get more money, because right now if a person is on welfare but they want a job, the minute they get a job, they stop receiving welfare. That provides no incentive to even work. You tell me. Would you want to get $25,000 a year for doing nothing, or $25,000 a year for working 40 hours a week? If we could make it where people could still receive welfare for a short amount of time when they have a job, they would be making a lot more money. By the time that their welfare "runs out," they could have asked for a raise or something.

Firstly in response to the title: 1. there is no guarantee that someone on welfare will be able to get themselves off of it and support themselves, so setting an arbitrary time limit is both pointless at best and life threatening at worst 2. there isn't always an incentive to leave welfare thanks in part to point 1 - why try and support yourself if there is nothing you can do to accomplish that AND the government will support you anyway? People on benefits or welfare should do jobs for the government like cleaning and community service if they are able

My uncle back like 30 years ago claimed that he was crazy and was not able to work and they gave his disability. And he's still on it and there is literally nothing wrong with him. I try to apply for disability after going through major back surgery, have multiple seizures (which are now under control) and I get denied. Bull crap system.
