Yesterday in Seattle one of our city bus drivers was shot multiple times in downtown for apparently demanding that a group of riders actually pay their fares. A 31 year old black man with a history of felonies reportedly became angry, said, "war" and began shooting the white bus driver. The bus driver dared to stand up to a group of blacks for not paying, and then another black man took offense, felt disrespected, and opened fire. For the record, it's unclear if the shooter was part of the other group of blacks who didn't pay.
The bus driver miraculously lived, and the shooter fled the bus, tried to carjack at least one other person, then tried to board another metro bus. He apparently opened fire on Seattle Police when they arrived within minutes, and SPD shot him dead.
The local media coverage has been typical. Not a peep about the possibility of a hate crime. Not a peep about the possibility of racism against the white bus driver for demanding that the other blacks pay their fares. The shooter has no history of mental illness or anything like that.
Imagine if 3 white men had refused to pay their fare, then attacked the black bus driver who was asking them to pay. How would this be framed by the mainstream media? Hate crime? An attack by 3 whites on a black? You better believe it. Even without evidence of racism or hate crime, they would be casually asking, "could this be a hate crime, was the driver targeted because he's a minority?"
Seems the angle that the liberal local news stations are going to play is the anti-gun angle, with questions regarding "safety" on our metro buses. Nevermind that this thug was a career felon and should have never been on the streets to begin with.
