I'm not a huge Star Trek fan, but I thought it was a damn good movie. It's missing the whole philosophy aspect of the original Star Trek films, but still.

I didn't like that he chose Kahn as the bad guy. Why? Just because the original movies had Kahn as number 2? It also put him out of character and timeline. According to the original series, he should still be on the botony bay, on his way through galactic space. He was put there by the Earth government in the 2000's after the great war. It just ruined the Star Trek timeline with an unneeded tie to the original movies. They had started to set Pike up to do the Glass Menagerie. They should have kept that.

Damn, has there been a single sequel released this year that hasn't had a polarizing fan reaction?
-
So it in IMAX, -blam!-ing fantastic movie, I would give it a 8/10.
-
And like it or not, in the universe that Abrams created (based on HOW he created it), this beast is still out there.
-
The only thing I didn't like about the movie was the fact that the only way to revive Kirk was to capture Khan alive, because his blood would save him and all that. WHEN THERE WERE 74 PEOPLE WHO'S BLOOD WOULD HAVE THE SAME EFFECT. RIGHT. THERE. But I'm no Trekkie or anything so if there's some reason that only Khan's blood could do it, feel free to correct me. (but if there was they should have made it more evident in the movie)

I thought it was great. Were people honestly expecting a plot like The Motion Picture or something?
-
Fans always slag off the newest instalment to a series then praise it like it was golden chocolate cake when the next comes out. Happens with Star Wars, Halo, Trek.. I loved the film though.

Cumberbatch would have done better justice to the Kirk/Gary Mitchell story. An Anglo Khan? Since the reboot/universes diverged at the birth of James Kirk (the Romulan time incursion), things that happened prior to that event should be the same. Khan Noonien Singh was a Sikh superman and ruled the Asian/Persian subcontinent.
-
i only thought it was stupid that spock didn't die to khan when he should have.

Yeah I heard that a lot myself too, never been an avid fan of the series though so I can't say much.
