What is the most severe injury you've received in your life?
Mine happened when I was a toddler, something or other ripped through the lower part of my mouth and my mother had to sew it up. Now I have two nifty lil' scars on my bottom lip :D
What severe physical (or even mental) injuries have you attained in your life! I'd really love to know!

Edited by Tyger: 8/11/2014 8:09:12 PMI fell off my bike once... 4 breaks 1 compound fracture Several very large abrasions 2 surgeries, 2 metal rods in my arm, 69 (hue) staples and dozens of stiches If you have to take a ski lift to get there, you shouldn't ride your bike down

I lost three legs in 'Nam...
Car crash. I got my forehead and brow sliced open. It caused permanent scarring, though most of it is covered by my eyebrow, fortunately.
Slipped playing tag when I was 6 and got a rock through my right hand (as in, all the way through, middle of my palm) or compressed my right heel-bone 3cm (yes, that's an accurate number) skiing. Doc said that one should have shattered my ankle, at the very least, but hooray for good boots and super-dense bones :D

When I was 8 I sliced my thumb to the bone and got FOUR stitches. That is physical. I'm diagnosed with add and some crazy word that means bat-shit crazy
-
I stubbed my pinky toe once, like, really badly.
-
I just got my wisdom teeth pulled :(

I cut my head on a radiator when I was little, but because it was so hot it cauterised the wound :D (No scar) I also tore my chin open, had it stitched up and on the day the stitches came out and I went back into school... I slipped on the ice and tore it open again. I have a nice scar on my chin from that one.

I was sixteen used to ride BMX with my friends. We were having a height contest on one of the jumps and it was my turn to go I was riding around the berm, hit the takeoff then blacked out in midair. Woke up about a minute later on the ground, tried to get up but couldn't move my right arm, friends helped me up called my mom, went to the hospital got X-rayed. Had to wait a week until surgery.

Got smashed in the face with a 2x4 and it broke.
-
Broke both bones in both forearms (totalling 4 broken bones) in 7th grade. Left arm healed improperly and had to be rebroken. I now have a plate and 5 screws in there.
-
Broke my wrist the day before my GCSE maths exam. A football hit my arm. Pathetic. But I still managed an A * ;)
-
Fell 16 feet and broke my left heel couldn't walk for 6 months
-
I almost got paralyzed in my spine, I wasn't able to walk or jump right for a week.
-
I had a dog bite me on the cheek when I was a little kid, stuck my face where it didn't belong. I don't remember much about it, but I haven't had any injuries that I would consider that serious, just a lot of mild ones.
-
Punching and bracketing my metacarpals.
-
I was doing pull ups, and I passed out and smacked the back of my head on hardwood floor.

Once when I was about two or three years old I was standing up on the living room couch, and fell onto the table in front. The skin above my right eye split a bit. My mother taped it together, and I have a small scar in the middle of my eyebrow now. When was eleven or twelve I slipped and sled down a set of stairs, and received some slight blunt force trauma to my tailbone. I had difficulties walking for a couple of weeks. A few years ago I twisted my ankle in an accident during a badminton training match. I've also had a metal bar inserted behind my ribcage in a surgery, but that wouldn't count as an injury.

Iron spiked railing to the neck when I was real drunk at Uni. Best (worst?) part is I was so drunk that I went home to bed, rather than the hospital, and woke up with no recollection of having injured myself so didn't understand why I was covered in blood.

Second severe injury. *WARNING: GORE AND UNPLEASANT IMAGES AHEAD; READ AT YOUR OWN RISK* I was about 11at the time. It was a hot summer day, +28 degrees Celsius. Me and a couple of friends decide to swim in a nearby lake. My friends walk into the water and then swim away. I get undressed and start walking into the water. The lakebed consists of large oval stones. I keep walking and then suddenly feel extreme pain in my left heel. I look down and notice a lot of blood around my left foot. I lift it out of the water to get a loot and see a long piece of glass sticking out of my heel. I immediately pull it out (there was about 3cm of glass in my heel). I'm bleeding like crazy. My friends are swimming and then notice me on the shore staring at my foot. One of them swims ashore and sees what happened. By pure luck, he had some band aids in his backpack. The next day my doctor confirmed that there was no glass left in my heel. I could not stomp or land hard on my left foot for the next 2 years because I could still feel pain in it.

Penis impalement to the face.

I was doing a trick while skateboarding and fell tearing my meniscus almost in half ( literally the cat scan showed it almost gone) and I had to get surgery to fix it. The worst part though was the recovery when my knee was swollen and the doctor had to push a huge syringe into the center of my knee and drain almost a liters if blood and puss from my knee

It's a toss up between the time I fell off a climbing frame or when I had acute appendicitis...

I was playing tag and I ran under a tree to hide, there was a broken branch that went straight into My eye, I don't know how but I only got a minor cut and some weird tree sap in there, other times i just barely missed getting run over or falling to my death
