So I've been playing the Jak & Daxter HD Triligy recently and I'm currently playing through Jak II and I noticed an interesting message.
I'll explain it as best as I can for those who haven't played it. So there's an elite police force known as the Krimzon Guard. These guys can be pretty ruthless and will punish you for anything they can. Anyway, there are these hover vehicles you drive around the city of Haven. You can jump up and hijack any vehicle driving by. This includes the Krimzon Guard vehicles. With these vehicles, you can also lower yourself to the ground and still drive along, however you can easily hit pedestrians.
So what I've noticed is that the Krimzon Guard don't care if you hijack people's vehicles or hit and kill them. They don't bat an eye. But hit or hijack a Krimzon Guard and everyone loses their mind! I don't always plan to do it. I mean, do I looks like I have a plan? Of course not, I'm just crusing about usually minding my own business and bam! The whole force is after me. They shoot at me like I'm some kind of monster. I'm not a monster (although you do have some freakish Dark Eco powers that make you pretty beastly). I'm just ahead of the curve. Still, I have to respect these guards. They have a little fight in them. I like that.
So anyway, back to my point. Jak II highlights the police in our society. When a normal shooting or carjacking happens, it's pretty simple. But when it happens to a cop? They're all over the place ready to destroy the person who did it. And if they aren't savagely killed, they'll get a hell of a lot longer in prison. See, like the Krimzon Guard, they don't really care unless it's one of their own. For them to really do their job, you need to hit them home otherwise it's just half-assed. It's like gravity: all it takes is a little push. And these cops just sit there and eat doughnuts and drink coffee while bad things are happening to the ordinary folk. You know the thing they have in common? They're cheap.
And with the cops (just like with the Krimzon Guard), if I attack them, it's like I'm an agent of chaos. You upset the established order, and everything becomes chaos. I bet it's great being a police officer. It's just like saying "Welcome to a world without rules".
But when I look at it all, it's so ridiculous. I don't why they're so serious.

Shooting a guard + Dark Giant + Dark Bomb = leleleololeleoleoleeol Good times. Anyways, could you imagine how annoying that game would be if you couldn't hijack civilian vehicles?
