In this screenshot (From the Destiny E3 Gameplay Trailer) you can see a few characteristics that would apply to Mercury. First, we can see that the planet is extremely bright, and also that the Sun is so close that it covers the entire visible horizon. Mercury is the closest planet to the Sun (See solar map through link below), with the second closest planet being Venus. Now, as we all know by now, Venus is a dark, lush jungle planet in Destiny, which rules out the possibility of it being the planet pictured above. All the other planets in the solar system (except Mercury) are too far away from the Sun for it to look that close from the planet's surface. That proves that the planet pictured is Mercury, and that we'll be able to play there in Destiny.
That all said, what do you think of this? What enemies do you think will be there, and why?

Oh look, it's the Lighthouse. I remember playing that at launch. Oh wait...
-
Wow no way

Interesting. If that's correct I like how they did it, with the whole planet being so close to the sun and all. Venus' lore bothers me a bit. Even if the planet was terraformed it would need some kind of lore background to explain why a planet with an average real world temperature of 460 degrees celcius somehow blocks out the sun and heat to not evaporate and incinerate everything on it.

OMFG. WHO NECHROBUMPED THIS SHIT
-
I think that most enemies will be on most planets, but lots of a certain type of enemy on specific planets. I expect that the Hive or Vex will be on Mercury unless it's the mysterious 5th race yet to be unveiled. This is a really cool discovery! You can even see the guardian's ship coming in lower over the city on Mercury, which shows we can play there.

Never even played the game

Necro bump just to see the lost hopes and dreams of many a player
-
How are you enjoying Destiny now?

Edited by Rudy22XxCP3xX: 11/6/2015 11:08:50 PMCan this be necroed? edit: yes it can

Yep thats Mercury alright, you can only "visit" Mercury in pvp free-for-all, other than that you cant truly visit and explore Mercury, at least not yet. I really would love to explore Mercury because I just think the environment is so different from anywhere else. I would like to visit Mercury and Jupiter, I know its not proven that Jupiter has a surface but the exploration doesn't necessarily have to be on a surface. Think of it like Cloud City in Star Wars, could you imagine that? I would dig that!

It's most likely the Bex. They mention in a mission that the Vex turned Mercury in to a machine within a few days before the collapse. So they will probably be on Mercury.
-
Hmm, this could be mercury or maybe a space ship hovering by the sun. 5th race anybody?
-
That screenshot makes me think of the movie Sunshine.

Edited by j boogz: 8/10/2013 12:39:23 AMThat snow place ^, along with Venus and Europa, are the places I want to visit the most in Destiny.
-
Could be venus aswell. With a sun guard over them.
-
Although I would prefer it to be Mercury, did the thought occur to you that it could be theTraveller which is being send into to the Sun?
