In the spirit of keeping an open dialogue between the community and our Web Team overlords, I'd like to just give them some of my initial impressions. Share your opinions in the comments.
Preview Button: Hells Yeah! I'm VERY glad that this feature has returned. I write a long post fairly often, and it would be nice to see a preview of it before I post it. Good job.
Homepage: It looks good, but it just seems to be a bit too... "long" for my window. It's just barely so, and can be kind of annoying. Not a huge deal, seeing as not much time is spent on the home page anyways, just kind of noting it.
New Menu Bar: I'm going to be honest, I can't stand it. It gives the site a really clunky feeling reminiscent of an early 2000's computer with too many toolbars installed. It worked perfectly fine and was very sleek the way it was before. I'd say revert it or give us the option to change it back to the old style in our display options. I'd also like the option to turn off the giant preorder button. I'm going to buy the game, so their's no need for me to personally see it. Please?
I've also noticed a glitch where I can't seem to see the badge representing the number of years when you click on someone's name. Oddly enough it worked when I clicked on DeeJ's name though. (Edit: This seems to have worked itself out.)
Something else (for the future) that I'd like to see is being able to turn off the "Share" button. I never use it, and the only thing it does is auto expand when I run over it, which is VERY annoying since it doesn't like to un-expand for some reason. So yeah... let me kill it with fire please. Thanks for listening.
EDIT: One more thing I forgot to mention. I'm using the Dark Theme, and my profile page is now a odd lighter shade of what it was. It makes it hard to read what is there. Hopefully this is unintentional and will be fixed.

I still prefer the older layout...

I haven't had a problem with any of the previous site updates, but this new translucent bar needs to go. It feels very distracting to me, always drawing my attention while I'm trying to read. Much preferred when the menu options were on the sidebar of the forums. And though I understand that they wanted to bump up the presence of the links at the bottom of the homepage, I miss the size the front page posts used to have. Or perhaps the proportion is just off, like you said Death, it looks a little too wide. Regardless, I think the previous homepage was cleaner and better at drawing the focus where it was needed.

I don't like what they changed as I've posted many times today. I did not have a problem with how it looked before this update, just felt it needed a few fixes. Really bad that they made such big changes to some of the only things that worked.

Edited by dazarobbo: 8/1/2013 3:11:18 AMThe current presentation of the site feels as though it is built as a compromise for mobile browsers, but I think that has let the presentation of the site on desktop browsers down a bit. By that I'm referring to the blockiness of the UI, a la Windows 8. That works well for tablets and mobile browsers, but looks bad on desktop browsers. Preview feature would be better if it were automatic and rendered the post as you typed it. Overhead menu bar for the official tags shouldn't exist. Menus placed horizontally (especially in the header section of a site) give the impression that each has a sub menu component. This section was much better placed where it was before. I'm assuming the "wide" forum area in groups is a bug. Still no CoC link.

I might be the last one here using XP to check out Bungie on a daily basis, but it looks great from my perspective!

Navbar 2.0 needs to be opaque. It looks so good as a double-in-size original Bungie.new bar at the top of the page, and then when i scroll it gets all stupid.
-
There's a lot that feels very intruding. It might look better with polishing but to be honest I don't think it's worth the hassle. It would look great on a mobile phone, but it doesn't feel well at all on a computer.

Edited by Reclamity: 8/1/2013 12:47:32 AMI was kind of hoping they were bringing titles back. I'm somewhat disappointed.

Edited by U124926: 7/31/2013 11:35:51 PMI can't seem to find the option to remove the giant obstructive navbar with the glaring and laughable "Pre-order" button. Where is it?
-
No, just no. Each update just makes the site worse than it was before and now they'll spend who knows how long trying to fix minor things. And yet still nothing has been done for private groups, except moving the text to the left.
-
Is it really necessary to have that Pre-order button there? If i want the game, or whatever their selling, i'd already be aware of the ability to Pre-order. There's no need to tell me every screen that i can.
-
I do like the search box and the preview button for post. i really like the new dropdown menu with previews for the news. I don't care for the preorder button, its light blue color catches my eye and seems to be distracting me. i also don't care for the share button, something i also will never use. as for the tags menu bar, meh.... all in all i think the web team is doing a great job. I ♥ Bungie
