Community Challenge: Tricorn (Winner!)
We're all anxious for the next release of Destiny information, and maybe a little bored. So, I have a challenge for you.
In this image is a message. Decipher it, PM it to me, and whoever does this first will be rewarded with glorious loot. As time progresses, I will give you hints to help you along the way. The message is coherent, you'll know what it is when you get it. Saving the image will help you.
I'm planning on doing this as long as I can keep the content flowing. If you don't win this time around, take comfort in the fact that I'll be working on something else after this if time permits it.
First hint: Images are overrated.

Don't feel discouraged if you didn't win this time, there will be another challenge! I'm working on it as we speak, so keep an eye on the Community tag. The phrase you were looking for was "I've got a pocket full of space magic". The password was every seventh character in the image, only one of them being red. And if you didn't follow the whole process, there was a .rar archive inside the image with a text document. Just right click the image, and open it with WinRAR or 7zip and you can see the text file.

6 RepliesHint of glory: So what I thought would be a hint to bring a bit more clarity to the image ended up doing the opposite. When I said "Red only goes as fast as you", I was trying to imply that you only need to focus on the red characters once, or to be specific, one red character (I). After that, you can focus on the other characters in the image, which is why I put so much emphasis on the word 'only'. 'Only' can mean a variety of things, which again is something I didn't account for. Everything in the image is important (er, mostly everything). I didn't want you guys getting stuck working with the red characters alone. So with that being said, take the other characters into consideration as well. From here, I'm confident that you're going to be able to work this out. This is the last major hint, I'm kind of running out of ways to help out without completely giving it away :P Good luck everyone, I look forward to the victory PM. If there's any other unexpected snags, I'll clear it up the best I can, but they won't be any major hints. Thank you all for being patient with this, the feedback I'm getting from this challenge is going to make the next one go a lot smoother. While you're all hard at work solving this one, I'm going to be working out the next challenge.

2 RepliesThis is starting to drive me slightly crazy... Can it be said that hint 4 is actually 2 hints in one? Red only / goes as fast as you do. Red characters follow me, and I am the password? Am I on the right track with this at all? I don't think I'm giving much away if I am because I've tried everything I can think of along these lines.

Not necessarily a hint, but a bit of a small snag. Those of you on phase two may have seen something in regards to something along the lines of 'spcmgc'. Please disregard that, it was a situation in which it was mandatory of me to have a name there, it has no connection to the password. This was something I didn't consider at all, and I apologize if you spent a lot of your time trying to get a password out of that. Please just focus on the image for your password, rather than what you saw aside from that. 9 characters await your discovery.

You still have time to progress while others are stuck on stage 2. Last hint: Do not limit yourself exclusively by what you see, use what the image is telling you, and remember hint number four. If red [i]only[/i] goes as fast as [i]you[/i] (once), then place the perspective to yourself (Proper grammar is vital, if you catch on you'll have one character of the password. The rest are easy). And remember, try not to limit your view. Things are going to pop out at you, but only one of them is important.

Photoshop.. Windows Image Viewer... Both are decent tools, but are they the right tools for the job? You can't open a chest by adding layers to it.

Third hint: There's more to this image than what you see. Take context clues from my other hints, they seem stupidly cryptic, but there's some valuable keywords in there.

EDIT: converting the red numbers into their alphabetical equivalent, then taking them all and "reverse-alphabetting" it got me this: S U I O R R G A Y Trying to make words out of that results in phrases like: OUR GRAY IS SOAR I GUY R Obviously I'm over thinking this. XD
