What bothers me about Horizon's post is how selfish and destructive his focus is. As older and hopefully more mature players, we have the responsibility to come alongside younger players to help them achieve their best and to be a positive role model. (Some of the mature younger players do a great of job of this as well.) To do this takes personal sacrifice because it is certainly much easier to cuss out an obnoxious younger gamer and try to trash his or her self imagine. To be honest though, they have enough issues to deal with in the real world. So, you have a choice on how to respond to obnoxious behavior. First is you can ignore it. Second, you can be selfish, whine about it, and inflame the situation by tearing others down or third you can step up and be a man (or woman), be a positive influence, and help better the community, which I feel is going to take an even more central role in Destiny. Here's why... One of the many things I appreciate about Bungie is their intentionality in building community. Now with Halo, the community was largely facilitated through other mediums such as the website and social media (YouTube). However, with Destiny, Bungie is giving us the ability to shape the direction of the game through community we build in Destiny. Now I'm not stating we will completely shape the game. Bungie will be there to guide us in the process, but to paraphrase, there are some directions we might take the game that not even they can predict. Now we still lack specifics on how stuff will work in The Last City with things such as factions, clans, personal spaces, activities, interaction with other players...however, everything I have seen to date indicates to me the main purpose of this space is to build the Destiny community and it will be unlike anything that has ever taken place in a console game before and will be another milestone added to Bungie's innovations in game design. So in summary, community is what you make it. To have a good, strong community requires people willing to invest not just in themselves but in others. No community will be without it annoying people, but one of the best ways to address this is by being a positive role model and being willing to help others better themselves.[/quote] yeah you're right, cannot stand those dumb kids either. always squeaky bum time
