The title says it all. I'll let you know where I'm at right now.
So, I've been playing Pong since 2007 or 2008. Pong Arcade was the one I played first. I never owned it, because everyday I would go to my friend's house to play with him. I was 10 or 11, so this didn't bother me. We continually played Pong Arcade until 2009 (?) because we were 10 and had no idea there was a sequel coming out. By the time we got Pong for Atari 2600, my friend and I were starting to grow apart. I would still go over every couple of days, but it wasn't the same... In turn, I didn't play Pong for Atari 2600 as much and that's probably why I never really enjoyed it as much as Pong Arcade.
So, as I was growing up, I heard about Pong for Xbox. I figured this was the perfect time to get an Xbox.
So I eventually bought my own Xbox 360, which came with Tetris. I played this game, and I was hooked. I lived this game. It was addicting for a good year and a half. Pong for Xbox didn't even cross my mind.
My friend, Brett (?) lent me the game. I had to say, Pong had changed. With the introduction of armor abilities (especially sprint) I felt like the game had really stepped up. I actually really enjoyed Pong for Xbox, far more than Pong for Atari 2600.
But it was weird. I hadn't played Pong in a good 2 years, and I was still going to the top of the leader boards, almost every game. Why? Was I selected to be good at this game? Was there something about my strategy that was really good?
I doubted it. So I started to look into Competitive Pong. Because I loved Pong since I've been playing it, and I really wanted to play this game in tournaments. I also thought I could make some new Pong friends, because all my friends didn't like Pong that much.
So as I'm looking into MLG, I realized I'm really not that good at all. But I could be so much better.
So I suppose my question is, what's the proper course of action to get into competitive? Which games should I be playing to improve my skills? Pong Arcade? Pong for Atari 2600? Pong for Xbox?
Also, what game modes? What settings? Controller layout (I currently use Bumper Jumper, on a 3 sensitivity).
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
