The Downfall of Liberal California

I wouldn't have minded moving there, but I guess Hawaii it is! For those of you live in California or nearby or even have an ear to the ground, how true is this?

  • 14: False 11: False 10: False 9: LOL So false. 7: Media? Yeah, false. 6: False. 4: Lol'd hard, false. 3: That picture automatically assumes that if one is in poverty, they're immediately homeless. False picture. 2: Wow, this has to be the biggest bullshit ever, unless those troopers are working Rodeo Drive every single day. 1: Education pertains to liberal California only? Biased list is biased. Also, does it take into account that California has at least 10% of the US's population and growing even more? I'm also going to assume that the list doesn't take into account agriculture, since there are TONS of jobs in California pertaining to agriculture, yet no one is motivated enough to work in that field, or are even qualified to work in that field. inb4 u dont need a degree to pick cherries. I need a degree to become a farm veterinarian.

This shit happens when you have people in control and people with powerful voices who don't research enough into what the consequences might be if they pass or ban things. Also.. Many of those Liberals are moving to Colorado and destroying that state as well. I kind of chucked at the murder rate.. That happens when you make it almost a crime to be a gun owner in California.

      • I live in California. All I'll say is that many businesses are moving out. Family members of mine are business owners and I can attest to the horrendous taxes placed on even small businesses. Businesses tend to either close down or relocate out of state. Currently this is true for more specialized brick and mortar stores. The malls and bigger restaurants have kept busy with people mindlessly spending their money every opportunity they get. The state won't be able to sustain itself like this much longer.
Learn to swim Cause I'm praying for rain And I'm praying for tidal waves I wanna see the ground give way. I wanna watch it all go down. Mom, please flush it all away. I wanna see it go right in and down. I wanna watch it go right in. Watch you flush it all away.
• If there was ever an example of how to drive a state into the ground, California is it.

          • Also, if you go to Hawaii, just go to Maui. The other islands (Especially where natives are heavily populated in) aren't very welcoming to people who look like outsiders. Basically, if you look F.O.B (Fresh off the Boat for Asians), or you don't look Asian at all, you're going to stick out like a sore thumb.

I live in San Benito County in California. We are one of the hardest hit counties economically in the entire state. Based on personal experience and observations, I would have to say most of what I read in the story is true. Every day I see more and more homeless walking the streets of my hometown unable to find a job because, as the story said, there are no new businesses and the ones left are not, or cannot, hire anyone. Half the kids at my high school receive free or reduced lunches because their parents cannot find any work. I have several friends and acquaintances or have who have been effected by this. The schools are not teaching us what we need or should be learning because the money is just not there. Schools all across the state are forced to cut programs such as sports, migrant education programs, and various other electives that were once offered to students. My school in particular has been effected by this, but not in a way you would think. We put our athletic program above academics. They encourage kids to pursue sports rather than clubs or classes focused on STEM (The Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). I know at least 4 people who I know for a fact were failing classes and had a GPA lower than 2.0 who were allowed to continue playing on the football team because they were a "star" player. What really amused me was recently the school had a fundraiser the raise 100,000 dollars in order to keep the JV (Junior Varsity) sports program running. The schools varsity sports team budget is 12.5 million dollars a year. 12.5 million dollars... The final subject I will comment on is the gangs. Gangs have been a problem in every state, not just California. But I feel that it is worse here, especially in Southern California. I have seen gang related crimes rise in my city. There have been stabbings, and just a few months ago there was a gang related double homicide. The city cannot combat this because once again, there is no money. It's not just my city or county either. This is widespread, it's all over the state. I don't blame people moving out of California because frankly, I don't want to live here either.

              • It's totally true. San Bernardino is a shithole that all other shitholes aspire to be. Crime gets worse, bills go up, unemployment goes up, and businesses -blam!-ing tank. I like this state but it is so -blam!-ing awful I consider leaving all the time.
Raises California’s sales tax to 7.5% from 7.25%, a 3.45% percentage increase over current law. (Under the Brown Tax Hike, the sales tax would have increased to 7.75%) Creates four high-income tax brackets for taxpayers with taxable incomes exceeding $250,000, $300,000, $500,000 and $1,000,000. This increased tax will be in effect for 7 years. Imposes a 10.3% tax rate on taxable income over $250,000 but less than $300,000--a percentage increase of 10.6% over current policy of 9.3%. The 10.3% income tax rate is currently only paid by taxpayers with over $1,000,000 in taxable income. Imposes an 11.3% tax rate on taxable income over $300,000 but less than $500,000--a percentage increase of 21.5% over current policy of 9.3%. Imposes a 12.3% tax rate on taxable income over $500,000 up to $1,000,000--a percentage increase of 32.26% over current policy of 9.3%. Imposes a 13.3% tax rate on taxable income over $1,000,000--a percentage increase of 29.13% over current "millionaires tax" policy of 10.3%.
Oh no, how terrible...
