I really appreciate what you're saying, me being a girl who has posted before, but I don't think it will get through to anybody. People will always hate and be judgmental. I've posted pictures of myself, and I haven't particularly enjoyed some of the comments, but I guess it's something you have to accept with this group of people. I wish you well in your efforts, and I 100% agree with you. :)
Another point to bring up is that other guys on here don't post as negatively about other guys as they do other girls. If you look at picture threads, guys who post pictures hardly get any hate, where as girls who post a picture get sexually harassed, called names, and hated upon. True, not all Bnet members are negative, but the majority do act this way. I know you slightly brought it up, but it is a major difference in interaction :/

This thread. Whew.
-
Guys who post pictures hardly get any hate? That's adorable.
-
They do not receive nearly as much hate as a female posting a picture. Once a woman posts a picture, it becomes a game for the Flood. It's sickening and disgusting.
-
You have no concrete facts to back up that claim. Pretty sure when you posted a picture that you got a several compliments.
-
Yes, they usually do get compliments as well, but rarely does another male say to another male how ugly or unattractive he is compared to another male member just for the sport of it, if a girl feels like putting up a picture, she forever gets compared to other members just because she took a chance and wanted to put a photo up.
-
"rarely does another male say to another male how ugly or unattractive he is" Seriously? Are you new here? "just for the sport of it" It's all for the sport of it. That's the whole idea. Trolling. Getting a rise out of people. "forever gets compared to other members" Is that what the butt hurt is about? Getting compared to others? Forever?
-
Seriously? Are you new here?
I should be asking you that. Maybe a guy will insult another guy's appearance in a picture thread, but when does his appearance ever get brought up again in another thread and be used to immediately validate what he posts? That's Felicia's point.
It's all for the sport of it. That's the whole idea. Trolling. Getting a rise out of people.
Why do you need to be trolling people and ticking others off for no reason? Sure you may say and probably will after this that you never intentionally troll, but why does that crap need to happen in the first place? It's time this site started cleaning itself up.
Is that what the butt hurt is about? Getting compared to others? Forever?
Because the female users, and some male users, can never post normally and talk here like they might IRL. They shouldn't have to pretend to be a male to be able to interact with others on this site, because the second they put a picture up just because they would like to get involved, they get sexually harassed and talked about till the end of time practically. That's unfair, and this site shouldn't be allowed to constantly harass them for their appearance and then have that be what's always brought up when someone discusses or argues with them.

If you want to change the world, the Flood is the wrong place to start. Mute people and move on. To quote one of my favorite movies: "Life isn't fair. Where is that written?"
-
Muting people and moving on is exactly what happened in another form during a certain World War, people overlooked the changes and what was going on and turned a blind eye to it because they didn't want to try changing it at the time. Laziness and inability to think we can change something is the kind of passive thinking the world doesn't need, and if you think one or two people just muting someone so they don't see what they post, but still acknowledging that they will be running around and continuing with their behavior, is not what a decent person should be doing.
-
Comparing the Flood to a World War? You are really reaching. I stopped reading. Do what you want. Start a private group and be a hero. Nobody is stopping you. Fight the good fight.
-
Now all i can tell from you is how ignorant and indifferent to this you are being. This is a smaller scale and it was only an analogy to show what can happen when people look the other way.
-
Good job on the name calling and adding to the problem. You're a true champion.
-
Name-calling? You're being ignorant to the point i'm making, and if you knew the true definition of the word ignorant, you wouldn't think it's an insult.
Lacking knowledge, information, or awareness about something in particular.
You're being ignorant of what i'm trying to say, i fail to see how this degraded to name-calling because you would rather attack my character and say i'm insulting you instead of actually making decent responses to what i'm saying.
-
Lol. You're so cute how you looked up a word for me. I don't agree with you. That's not ignorance. It's a difference of opinion. Get over yourself.
-
Edited by KilljoyDetective: 7/19/2013 3:59:17 AMI looked it up to make sure i correctly relayed the meaning i was referencing after i typed in what i thought might have been correct. You didn't agree with the analogy i was using because you thought it was too much when it was exactly what i was talking about, when i put in a paragraph or two explaining the situation, you barely gave a sentence in reply. And if you think that just because you don't agree with what me and a lot of others are saying because it is happening lately and being shown to be true, then it's not a difference of opinion, because you are being ignorant to what is happening and you would rather think we're just being overly "sensitive" or something about it. I think i'm just going to mute you honestly, you've been replying sarcastically and immaturely the whole time, and i'm done, disappointed in someone who is supposed to have been here for 8 years.

Excellent post Keeker. It didn't fall on deaf ears as they say.

Edited by Khirna: 7/18/2013 7:17:15 PMI typically don't care the gender, if I don't like something you posted, I will let you know, but I don't think I've ever harassed anyone on the site and I don't see why people think it's OK. Anonymity on the internet is not an acceptable excuse because on some level, your personality is still determining how you post, and if you post hate, sexual harassment, etc. then you are most likely a crap person. I get heated in discussions on the site often, but I've never gone so far as to belittle things about a person that really have no relevance to the situation at hand. I believe the people trolling on the site 24/7 aren't trolling, they are really just being themselves under the masquerade of "joking" and it's just not funny when people have to come out and make a thread like this. My general rule, both here and in life, is that if I don't want my grandmother to hear it, then don't say it/type it. Have I broken this rule? Sure, but it's never been anything that if my grandmother saw it wouldn't be able to forgive me for saying and have a "kids will be kids" attitude about it. I really do hope this thread and the discussion generated does help mellow out the more offensive members on the site. If it doesn't, at least you can't say you didn't try.
