That didn't really stop people from making them. And the mods had a bad habit of only enforcing the rules when they felt like it back in the day.

  • Yeah it did because there was a consequence for breaking the rules. Here that consequence doesn't exist because there are no rules. You're right it's not gonna stop people from making it but it helps, and then it punishes them for it.

  • Except the only consequence was an easily-avoidable ban. It takes all of 5 minutes to set up a new account, and if you were dedicated enough you could have several in reserve to avoid the 24-hour probation. And even that was only when a mod happened to notice your post and took the time to punish you, which wasn't that often.

  • Well we've experienced both systems. A forum with rules was manageable and had order. A forum with no rules has gone to shit with all these threads. There's a reason the rules were set in place to begin with. Removing them just creates chaos. And I think your over exaggerating how bad the mods were because they weren't. And what you're saying doesn't work. I have 2 accounts on here. I've been banned on the main one and when I tried to use the other it just bans me again so no it doesn't work.

Your other account was banned because you don't know how cookies work. I'm speaking from experience here, I used to flame people all the time on bungie.old and I only got banned like 3 times, all of them temporary. In practice, this forum isn't any more chaotic than it was when the rules were in place. As time went on after Reach was released, there was a noticeable drop in activity, which was largely the reason that the mods got so lax. Look at the archives on the old flood, drama threads still existed, political/religion threads still existed, and flaming was pretty commonplace. The only difference was that they got locked after 10 or so pages.
