Join with Yes Man. You get to run the show, and get to pick which factions to help and which to destroy. I believe it's the only one that lets the Brotherhood of Steel live.
-
You made the mistake of getting it on xbox instead of PC...
-
Save consistently with multiple save files. Be wary of some quests, they may have an affect on future events. When in doubt, google it.
-
Once you play the game for a while and get used to it try it on hardcore mode. It is really fun. It makes more of a survival game.
-
Avoid game ending glitches...
-
Don't side with the Powder Gangers at the start.
-
Avoid Deathclaws as much as possible.
-
Don't die.

Edited by Logfish111: 7/18/2013 5:14:04 PMInvest in speech and repair. Side with Mr House because he's a cool guy. You may as well do as much as you can against the legion before you get to NV because then your reputation with them will go back to neutral anyway, then you can do as many of their quests as you want. Edit: Boone is the best companion in the game by far, he deals a lot of damage at a very long range plus he has a great backstory and side quest, make sure you use him.

Deathclaws give out free hugs from what I've heard
-
Dont die.
-
Anything with poison blows. Carry lots of anti-venom on you.
-
Make sure you maintain a high speech skill, if you want good options in quests. And try to get to 90 repair quickly for jury rigging, which will allow you to repair an item with something similar, like repairing a sniper rifle with a varmint rifle. Don't try taking the I15 to New Vegas at an early level, unless you think you can sneak around Deathclaws.
-
Mr house and yes man are the best factions to join.
-
Go straight towards New Vegas from good springs, i promise death claws wont try to t-bag you

I always liked Hardcore a lot more. It balances things out a bit better. And don't immediately shun Caesar's Legion. Check out their wiki page. They believe in moral advancement over scientific advancement, and in my opinion, they are a much better option than the NCR.

Try not to weigh your self down with unneeded equipment and medical supplies. Try to use weapons that use the same ammo if you're on hardcore and don't forget that a lead pipe when applied well is better than a gun in cqb and against smaller enemies. And also put your repair up early to get a robot companion called ED-D at a town called primm, he's sitting on the counter opposite the front door of the building with a dead courier outside it.

>Pick up weightless items >??? >Profit

Max out repair as soon as reasonable, and get Jury Rigger when you can to make repairs a doddle. Get a decent rifle like the Cowboy Repeater to start off with and try and work up to Brush Gun. A fully upgraded Hunting Rifle is a beast, well recommended. I normally stick with light armor so get some Leather or Leather reinforced and then work your way up. If you've got Lonesome Road and you want decent armor real early then head over there as soon as you can and get some Riot Gear.

Edited by LordFarquaad690: 7/18/2013 3:01:29 PMPlay hardcore mode, it makes it funner. Do not go strait to new Vegas unless you have beaten the game prior and have the mercenary's pack otherwise you will die a lot and miss out on thousands of xp points. Edit: Max out the intelligence skill, so you get the maximum amount of possible points when leveling up.
-
Max out Repair and get the Jury Rigger Perk ASAP. Also, Cazadores and Deathclaws will end you. Particualy the Legendary ones.
-
What platform?
-
Avoid cazadores at all costs.
