I don't think it's okay, but I don't think it's as big of a deal as you make it out to be. Then again, I'm not a girl who has her appearance critiqued every single day. Though, honestly, if I was, I think I'd not give a shit. I don't know what you aim to accomplish with this thread. Do you want the behavior to stop? If not, do you just want them to admit they are being assholes?

I'm just trying to strip away their excuses and inform them there's no way justifying such behavior. I want to label them for what they are, like anyone would in person; jerks.

Yeah, I see. Though, I think they do realize that they are jerks. They just simply don't care. As you know and have mentioned in the OP, anonymity grants the ability to say anything without repercussion. At least, not for the particular individual. We have a lot of nihilists on this website. Just these solipsistic pieces of shit who think they can say and do anything to anyone, and it'll never matter. I used to be that way, and then I realized that people can actually get really hurt, and I have regrettably done so in the past. It's sad that I had to learn that the hard way, and it just goes to show that people are just inherently bad. Personally, I'd just recommend sticking to private groups from now on. I know you've tried that, but it's really all I can offer as advice.

You see, I think a lot of them do care, but when it affects THEM. Which is why they'd never say anything even remotely similar to the things they say on here, because they know people would look down on them for it, or they'd be called out on it in real life. I mean, that's how we're raised. We don't randomly go up to people and insult them. We were taught that was rude, and rightfully so. These people that use their keyboards as a weapon, insulting others for whatever beneficial reasons, are cowards. They do it because they know they won't get a scolding for it, so that's what I'm doing here, I'm giving them the "scolding" they rightfully deserve, and who knows? Perhaps some people are just unaware, like you had said yourself, you realized that people could get hurt. So maybe, like you, some people just don't know it truly affects others because it's on the internet, which wouldn't make them an legitimate asshole (in my eyes anyways) but just unaware.
