The titan class is barely comparable to the other two because it is more of a tanking class. But the hunters and warlocks have some similarities except for their special ability. They both could be long-medium range characters. Which one would be the best for an all around character?

Warlock. Crazy powers? Me thinks yes.

Now let me stop you right there. I generally play sniper unless the game has totally botched the class up or the option to do so. In many games I've had to change tactics to suit what the game allowed and Destiny will be no different in that respect. We already know that every class will be able to use every weapon. This has been confirmed by Bungie many times over and we all know it well. The point to that is that every class will be able to play every range dependent on what weapons you choose to run with. That being said, this will all boil down to your personal tactics and use of powers. True the Warlock and the Hunter both have decent range quality to them, but from what we've seen of the Warlock's powers they're not that ranged. As a comparison to this issue we can look at sniping from Borderlands 2. Zero- He is the power sniper out of the bunch. Features high crit headshots and the ability to stealth out of combat if needed. Maya- Features some raw damage upgrades and sports a lockdown sniping tactic. Easily hold targets in place to deal multiple shots of punishing crit damage. Axton- Higher raw combat potential with an emphasis on AR use allowing better mid range combat for targets that have gotten closer than comfortable sniping allows. His main sniping category is suppression & distraction fire with the turret(s) so that he may snipe from a good range and has the added benefit of a quicker transition to scope. Obligatory quick scoping. Salvador- His main feature to the class is as a bullet hose. That being said, he's the least competent sniper in the group for the task, but he's also a decent enough comparison to the Titan. He's best used as an initial sniper to thin out the groups or if you're quick enough eliminate all of them. His big point is going to be the mass slaughter of anything that gets to a mid-close range and I can assure you that you will have things getting close to you in both Borderlands and Destiny. We have at least three confirmed melee based capable units with a possible fourth and one faction that features subterranean corridors that holds two of those confirmed units. Gaige- Anther distraction sniper but with a twist in that her distraction is moving and has the ability to be support/defense as well. Sniping with her is largely based on bait sniping rather than dropping your distraction in the thick of things. Any and all of the classes in Borderlands 2 I have used to great effect in sniping before. No one class can really be called the sniper class in that game and the same can be said for Destiny. To this effect, their is another game you can test drive the Titan's tactics on. Warframe with the Rhino warframe is a decent enough comparison. He features the same ground pound type attack as well as the shoulder rush type attack. I have also used him as sniper as well. To sum this up, what class you want to play sniper as will be more of a question of if you want to use the class to complement your sniping or if you want the class to enhance your sniping.

Why is the titan out of the question, who says you can't make a titan stealthy or make a hunter a tanking class.
-
Its kind of one sided to say that the titans are barely comparable to the other classes when Bungie even said that every class has something to make the other classes jealous. So, WEEP WITH JEALOUSY!!! TITANS FOREVER!!!! -rips off armor and streaks across the forum-
-
I can't help but think there is a fourth class hidden somewhere. But if there are three at release then I will go for the warlock, I really like the armor on the hunters and the playstyle, but a friend who I'm going to play with wants to play a hunter as well, so the more strategic choice would be the warlock. I was worried about that at first but when Bungie showed the gameplay trailer I was relieved that the warlock had some range and scopes as well. So my personal preference is going to the warlock at the moment, but I won't make a definitive decision until I know more about the final game.

No, they have not said Titan is a tanking class. They have said they're all built around being a DPS class, but each class brings it's own flavor, the Titan's just happens to be being more beefy to get in your face.

Close combat hunter.

stealth + long range = hunter

Edited by ELEMENTAL: 3/1/2014 5:51:18 PMAt this point, we don't know the exact characteristics of each class, so it's hard to make a decision.. But, we do know a few basics of each, and I like the hunters long-range capabilities

The big dilemma. I've spent a lot of time weighing the pros and cons of each of the 3 classes, at the end of the day however it comes down to Hunter vs Warlock. My first choice is Warlock, however deep down I'm afraid that I may lack the skill to play the class properly ( I'm not very good at FPS's ). I think I have a better chance of making progress through Destiny as a Hunter.

Edited by DiPolarPilot: 3/1/2014 11:03:29 PMNot sure you understand how the class system is actually going to work in this game... There may well be elements of tank/warrior for Titans, mage for Warlocks and rogue for Hunters in terms of some bonuses - but they can all use any gun in the game and their supers definitely sound range focused (Titan - close, Hunter - mid to long, Warlock - mid).

Warlock, i can just grab your armor and super nova your chest. Titan, can break every bone in your body. In the end its not what you choose. Its who you want to be and how you want to kill the bad guys lol. Warlock personally

Edited by Intangible Duck: 2/25/2014 8:07:59 AMAs a Titan is always being called a Tank, how about combining a Warlock, Tank and Hunter.... You'd end up with a Wan... oh wait a minute, that's rude....

Warlocks are designed by Hugo Boss, so go Warlock.

I don't see why the Titan can't function at long range either. We've only seen one of it's at least 2 focuses. And we don't even know if characters are limited to 2 yet.

waiting for the beta and cant really decide
