When in the course of human events it becomes necessary for one people to form a society and govern themselves, leaders must rise to form a structure of the people, for the people, and by the people. As a result, I'm assuming that players will be able to run for governmental office in Destiny. With that said, I'm proud to announce today my candidacy for Mayor of The City. I run on the following platform: - As your Mayor, I will prioritize protecting the Last Light of Human Civilization from the menace of hostile alien species. I will increase government spending on defense and raise taxes for the richest players. - As your Mayor, I will crack down on crime, outlawing such outrageous activities as illegal (warrantless) raids, murders, gang/faction wars, and loot theft. - As your Mayor, I will allow players the freedom to do whatever they want to do (within the bounds of the law). You want to work in The City as a banker or shop owner? You got it. You want to start a farm on The City outskirts? Absolutely. - As your Mayor, I will conduct foreign relations fairly and with your best interests in mind. I will meet regularly with leaders of The Fallen, The Cabal, The Vex, and The Hive to try to bring this war to a diplomatic end without further bloodshed. - As your Mayor, I will PERSONALLY oversee the development of and PERSONALLY test out all high-level weapons, armor, and spaceships before putting such potentially dangerous equipment into innocent players' hands. - As your Mayor, I will meet regularly with The Traveler and test out new and exotic Space Magic powers. I will ensure that the best powers are reserved for those who are most important to The City's governmental structure and who are in the best position to protect other players. - As your Mayor, I will take full responsibility for and control of The City's economics. I will use your tax dollars and The City's treasury funds with the utmost care and dedication to your best interests. - As your Mayor, I will utilize NPC assets (such as powerful robot bodyguards for City officials) with the utmost care. I will dispatch my robot police force to the most crime-ridden areas of The City to regularly arrest and jail players who do not comply with the law. - As your Mayor, I will select my staff and cabinet with discretion, selecting from among the best players in the world to make sure that we are an unstoppable fighting force that can protect you, the People, most effectively.
