I've been thinking about something recently. Dragons show up in the mythology of several different cultures (Norse, Chinese, English, etc.) dating back several hundreds of years ago. Some of these cultures being so immensely different and separated but still coming up with the same creature seems like a huge coincidence, so the question is... Is it possible that dragons did exist some time long ago (perhaps before we had any system of writing or maybe even during the time of the dinosaurs)?
What do you guys think? Please comment and share your thoughts.

Dragons=dinosaur bones

Edited by Kernel Kraut: 7/19/2013 12:04:04 AMI remember it being argued that what may have fueled the stories of Dragons was the discovery of dinosaur bones. Think about it, pulling giant serrated teeth out of the ground as you are plowing your field, or stumbling on a claw. It would certainly put the fear of something into a peasant farmer. As time goes on oral tradition changes stores. So from a single tooth a story about an entire skeleton could be woven in time.

Aliens

Maybe dragon-like aliens/robots...

They have to be real. Just look at dragon dildos, researches have already discovered how their dicks looked.
-
Firebreathing dinosaurs? I dunno. I wonder how you could biologically create fire and also be physically immune to burning.

The only dragon I want to see are the ones from Pern.

I believe that it is possible that there were large reptiles labeled as dragons around the globe. In earlier history for it seems nearly every civilization had referenced and documented them in some fashion or another.

According to the holy book, Dinosaurs coexisted with humans, those are the dragons you speak of.
