So it just occurred to me, why do I find cat ears in destiny to be a stupid idea when Halo: Reach had floating hearts?
Seriously.
Reach was a sad, intense story, yet in the multiplayer you had people running around with winged hearts popping out of their armor, and confetti and champagne corks popping upon their death. That sounds a lot like stuff you find in one of those "damned anime games"
Bungie even put that off-color (literally) Easter egg in Reach where the player's armor had several skin-toned polygons in the nether regions. [I believe it was removed in one of the first patches to the game]
So if you dislike cat ears (I still am not for them), remember that Bungie is pretty ridiculous in their own way, they might add cat ears for holiday events just to put the joke on us.
EDIT: And for the record, Bungie said at GDC that Destiny is almost completely fantasy based, but they also made it abundantly clear that they won't make it childish. So the epic space lynx in the concept art will be a pet (though it hasn't been mentioned recently), but no flying hedgehogs. Savvy?

Where did the idea of being a neko come up anyways? Like was that an idea made up by the community? Holy crap, make some ideas that would actually fit into the story. I'm the protector of humanity! I will save you all with my cat ears... If cat ears are going to be in Destiny give me a -blam!-ing pair of eagle wings.
