In 2011 Microsoft and 343 industries released a remake of the original Halo called Halo: combat evolved anniversary. The game Featured a graphics engine much like that of Halo:Reach. It also featured a few new firefight maps and a remake of Halo 2's Ivory tower multiplayer map.
Microsoft has admitted that they have considered the release of a Halo 2 anniversary several times. It's been said the game will release early November of 2014 in celebration of it's 10th anniversary. As of now this is only rumor and no definate answer has been released.
Not much info about the game has been revealed. Hell, it might not even be in development but it's definately a game any diehard halo fan would love to see.
Halo 2 was the first halo game to introduce online play other than Halo:CE for PC.
The games online feature is no longer supported due to the fact that it is an original xbox title...
Face it, a lot of us miss playing halo 2 online and a remake of the game featuring a functional online experience would be a dream come true to halo fans. Is it possible that this is another reason for the game to be remade?
Microsoft's Phil Spencer stated that they time to time discuss a remake.
"We have discussions about it. It’s more about the right time and making sure that we really would do the right thing for the franchise."
These were Spencer's words to IGN.
So is it really possible the game is in deveolpment and scheduled to release late of next year? Do you think a remastered version is right for the franchise? What new features would you like to see in a Halo 2 anniversary?
Please, post your opinions!

I don't think they should re-release it at all. The first Halo was special because it was also the 10th anniversary of the Xbox. Halo CE practically sold the console. Halo 2 isn't really that big a deal.

I'd want H2A to come out 2014, with a couple of classic maps, and classic game types without sprint only. It can run the H4 engine, just don't make it with armor mods/abilities.

might as well call it fact since everybody keeps clammoring for it and then people will call MS money grabbers for rerealeasing the game and it would probably have no mulitplayer and people would complain despite the game being a buggy piece of shit. Give CoD a few more years and you'll get your Halo 2 anniversary.

I think it's a strong possibility. Fingers crossed hah

If H2A comes out, I will go digest some cyanide. And this is coming from the biggest Halo 2 fanboy on Bnet. That gem doesn't deserve to get mutilated like CEA did.

I think they should release H2A on Nov 9th, 2014 and then release Halo 5 in 2015. Halo 2 Anniversary can include access to the Halo 5 multiplayer beta as an incentive to buy, and the beta will go on in April-May of 2015 with the game releasing somewhere between September-November of 2015. This is just what I think they should do, but they probably won't as they seem to want to release main series games (H4, H5, etc...) on a two year cycle now.

That is a Halo 3 spartan model with Halo 3 ODST's New mombasa in the background.

I would not be interested in a remake. The graphics improved significantly from Halo C.E. to Halo 2, and I don't think an anniversary edition would benefit as much from a remake like Halo C.E. did. It was a great title, and was my gateway into Xbox Live and online gaming, and even though it holds a lot of nostalgia, I would not be one rushing out to purchase it. The campaign was fun, but once I completed it, the main draw was playing match making games. Halo has evolved significantly since those days, and I'm much more interested playing Halo 4 online, or investing my time in the newer games that are pushing the envelope.
