No, there should NOT be mounts.
No, there should NOT be pets.
No, there should NOT be marriage.
No, there should NOT be jobs.
It's a "shared-", open-world first person shooter with RPG elements, there's no reason to turn it into the Sims with guns and aliens.
Also, for the love of god and all that is holy: no -blam!-ing cat ears please.

Sure, you roleplay in the game, but the genre emphasis is clearly leaning towards a Shooter, so the more role-playing-centric features like marriage, pet ownership, and day jobs should be kept out of the game.
Edited by llunaco: 7/15/2013 11:42:28 PMYou should learn the proper definition of a Role Playing game, sir. Because: No, an RPG does NOT need mounts. No, an RPG does NOT need pets. No, an RPG does NOT need marriage. And finally, No, and RPG does NOT need jobs. Basically what I'm trying to say is that your argument is invalid. By extension, your argument fails in epic proportions.

But I will have a job. Ridding the galaxy of filth.
-
But you make your own custom character, pick your ROLE, play that ROLE and did I mention it's a game? Be definition it's a roleplaying game. I don't want mounts, I want vehicles (which are confirmed). I wouldn't mind pets in the form of mobile robotic turrets or what not, but no animals. I'm excited about Destiny simply because it has a heavy emphasis on its RPG aspects. If I wanted a standard 'generic character, no character progression shooter' I could have a dozen options without waiting. It's a fast-paced, action focused shooter. It's also an RPG, but in the end who cares? Label it whatever you want. It has a dedicated team who are making a game they want to play and that's what I care about, a fun and good looking game. Call it whatever you want and I'll still enjoy it!
-
But I want cat ears.
-
Bungie will implement whatever makes them the most money. If marriage means 1 million subscribers (rather exaggerated) then you bet your ass it will be in.
-
#mmo #mmorpg #MoreMMostuff You should edit those posts so they are correct. It is not an MMO. It has MMO qualities, however as Bungie has said, it is not an MMO. Call it a SWS (Shared World Shooter).
-
Are you dumb? How is any of that going to effect you? I think marriage, mounts, and all those things are great ideas as long as its all logical. If you don't like it then don't do any of the things listed.

^ this

I really don't understand why people want all those things. Adding in all that would just make it really frickin weird.
-
It's a "shared-", open-world first person shooter with RPG elements,

with RPG elements

RPG
People throw out ideas they think would be cool, and some people have to act like preteens and automatically say something is stupid or gay. They are just IDEAS. It doesn't mean that they are gonna be in the game. And if they are? What are you gonna do? Not buy it? Good. No one needs another negative person putting things down because they don't like them.
Grow the F uck Up
#Spacemagic agrees.

The Sparrow is my mount, the Ghost is my pet, my gun is my wife, and my job is kicking alien ass.

Lol you need no help to make yourself look like an ass on the internet

I LOLed - no offense OP. That said, as a long-time RPer and gamer, I'm used to the gambit of praise and persecution for RP. That said, I'll offer the same two cents I give everyone: if you are that adverse to RP, RPing individuals, and an RP community... Avoid them :) Use ignore, don't frequent locales where you know there'll be RP, and if all else fails, use your powerful imagination to just ignore it! It works for RPers who get 'griffed.' Again, no offense to the OP and those who share the expressed opinion but that's all it is: opinion. So in parting, you play on your end of the sandbox and I'll play in mine. And when it comes time for PvP, I'll see you in the middle ;)

Completely agree. WOW fags can go some were else.
-
Okay guys, there's no jobs. I guess we just stand around.
-
I don't give a shit. I can enjoy it however I want. Roleplay is good fun.
-
But it is an RPG. It doesn't take much for a game to be labeled an RPG. With all of the customization they are showing and the amount you can level up and change your character (or his role if you will) this is looking to be more of an RPG than fallout or skyrim. Your original post seems to stem from a general misconception of what an RPG is or a lack of understanding of cross-genres.
