Is State of Decay worth buying?

So it's been a little over a month since the release of State of Decay. For all of you who have bought the full version, is the game worth buying overall? What are it's strong points, what are it's weak points? P.S. I've played the demo, and it was quite enjoyable. I'm asking what the entire portion offers.

  • Yeah but it does get boring. I enjoyed it for a bit though. It gets stale I guess you could say. Especially since multiplayer isn't coming anymore.

  • It gets boring.... I think I'll try to get back into it someday.

  • How to break the game ^^ There are gaps, but zombies barely spawn. It's large enough that you can safely send people to get resources 100% of the time. Once an area is empty you can move an outlying outpost to a farther location and get more.

  • I agree that SoD is a good game. Minus a few mentioned features. I recommend this game IF you are going to play it day-in and day-out. What I mean is that the game will continue without you playing. I had 24 ammunition stockpiled before I got off one night. I got on the next 15 hours later and I lost nearly 20 of it.

It's fine for a cheap indie game. It loses appeal quickly. It's unpolished, laggy, and fairly boring. The story is extremely short, and it's possible to break the game early-on and basically make the player the king of the area. It's a fun game to dick around in, so yeah, buy it. Just don't be prepared to be overwhelmed. A tip to anyone playing it: When calling for resource pickups, you can take the resource you just called in, and an AI will still get the same thing from the house. You effectively get double of what you found. Combine this was outposts creating a safe-haven from your home to a supply area, and you've got around weeks of free materials.

    • I just completed the game completely. I got all of the avatar awards and achievements, and I have built one of every facility. Its a very fun game, but you will get bored once you finish everything, because of the lack of co-op. Here is a piece of advice. If you buy the full game, try and relocate your home base over to the "synder trucking depo." It has a lot of extra building spaces so that you can build most of the buildings, and the surrounding area has a ton of building materials and food as well. If you can, build a green house so that you wont need to collect food anymore.

      • Great game, tons of fun, but there are a couple bad parts: No co-op. You can't always carry all the helpful stuff you find. Screamers, if left untreated, will infest everything. The human AIs are stupid as can be.

It's good, albeit frustrating some times. So far, my only gripe with the game is the lack of a Multiplayer/ CO-OP. There's so much to do that'll you'll be overwhelmed often. It would've been better to implement co-op just to ease the stress load that's put on one person. Also, sometimes you'll find a bunch of helpful shit, but unfortunately you can't carry it all. You could always call someone to come pick it up, but when you're on one side of the map and your home base is on the other, that isn't really an option.
